How do I know where to put my threads?

Each section has a short description accompanying it; that and the title should give you some indication of what should be placed in there. If you are still unsure, check the stickies or contact a staff member.

Even if you place a thread in the wrong section, one of our staff members will happily move it for you.

I posted but my post count hasn't increased.

Some sections do not add to your cumulative post count (e.g. the Spam Zone, the Playground, etc.). Consult the individual section’s description or stickies if you’re unsure whether posts count in there or not.

Special note for the Roleplaying Arena: your post count will only increase in the RP Arena if your post is above a certain number of characters.
