What a visual novel game lol?

 

Visual Novels are games where you literally don't do anything. You watch the pictures and read the text. They basically look like entertainment-oriented powerpoint presentations, but there are ways that the creators might add interactive content like movies or an occasional puzzle. Some of them let you choose the main character's reactions to affect the outcome of the situation as well. Outside of Japan the visual novel market is extremely small, so a lot of people haven't heard of them.

My favorite series was based off of a bestselling visual novel in Japan. I've played the first bit of it since it's available for download as a demo and there are English patches floating around on the web. There was later a PS2 port of it, and in June they released a DS port that has the first three story arcs and a new sidestory...I'm planning on buying the import since it's not region protected. ;D

 

That sounds cool, how much would it cost for the import game?

 

Eighty bucks, but there's also a forty dollar version. Because this isn't exactly something you do often though, and the special edition ships faster, I'm planning on buying that one. ~

 

if its a 50 doller game, i imagine somewhere between 60-70.....unless thees somekind of adapter u need to get.....such that, i know the american ps2 cant play kh2fm+...i had to buy something called "swap magic" if i wanted to play, another 50 dollers right there.....everytime i want to play it, i have to put that disc in first, so i suspect there may be something similar required for this, so possibly 100-120 dollers

Yes. But this one happens to have voiceovers as well as music, too (a lot of them just have music). Which is great because I speak Japanese better than I read it, so I'll be able to understand a decent amount of the spoken Japanese. When reading I'll only catch a few important words, particles, and names. DX

XD They're seriously called that!
They're just some of the symbols inbetween the words, like 'の' (which I'm pretty sure is the 'no' particle, as in 'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni' or 'Ichirin no Hana'

 

does it mean no? or is that just some kind of odd coincedence?

 

No it does not mean no. XD It can't really be translated, but in some cases like "Naraku no Hana" (a song), it means 'of', as Naraku no Hana translates to Flower of Hell.
