As the next generation has finally become the current gen, so it's time to tell us what games you think have made the last 8 years epic!

I'll give ya five to choose from, and talk a little bit about why it's on your top 5 list.
You can have honourable mentions after, if you want, but don't wite anything about them. I know it's not easy, i'll get mine up when I can do so, but narrow em down and tell us your top 5!

Note: The consoles include Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC ONLY!
I would include handhelds, but they pretty much have their own gen cycle. If you want it that much, go ahead an make a separate thread.

My Top Five games of last gen are:

    1.

    2.

    3.

    4.

    5.

My Top Five games of last gen are:

    1. The Walking Dead - Telltale's version of course. There hasn't been a game in a long time to make me feel the way this game did. There's plenty of reasons as to why some call it "The Walking Feels". It's so much more emotional than the TV series and it's already really good. Lee and Clem forever. It's hard for me to put more detail in this. It's just something you need to experience.

    2. Prince of Persia (2008) - "But wait Arch! There was no dying in that game! IT'S TOO EASY!" I'm glad there wasn't any dying. There are times where dying is just a meaningless mechanic. I don't want to be stuck waiting on load screens every time I make a mistake and kill my character off. That makes messing up frustrating. No dying just means you can keep playing the game without having to stare at a load screen. People would be complaining about this game's difficulty if they included "dying" into the game because you will fall a lot. With that being said, the game is one of the most beautiful things out on the PS3/360. Animations are so fluid, music is great, the story is nice and fantastical, but what really grabs my attention are the interactions between the two main characters. The Prince(never mentioned by name or even by title so we don't know if he's really a prince) and Elika. Together they easily have more personality and wit than just about every single character I've seen in this last generation. Oh and Elika, despite being controlled by AI, is never stupid! That's because she can't really do anything to screw you over. Only help you. So that's a huge plus. Stupid Ubisoft and their not making a sequel to this.

    3. El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - Another beautiful game. It saw an "Encore Edition" released in Japan only and a mobile spinoff(that may or may not be released). It's creator is currently trying to get rights to the game to continue with the universe of El Shaddai. That aside, this is another very beautiful game. Gorgeous music too. The gameplay is...creative. At first it seems to be a button masher but that's not the case. Combos are based off of rhythmic button presses. There's no prompts to help you with this. You just have to learn how to time your input. I could go on about this game forever...even if there's a lot that it lacks from a replayability perspective(and it doesn't do a great job of giving detail in the story)...but I just really loved this game. It was a solid platformer, had fun combat, and had a unique artistic style.

    4. The Last of Us - One of the best looking games to come from the PS3. Great characters, satisfying kills, and a difficulty that makes you think about how you approach each situation. I have a thing for this kind of combat system even though it's not seen all too often. Don't have much else to say about it though.

    5. Dragon's Dogma - An action RPG that does it all and is still solid all-around. Ever played Skyrim? Ever killed a dragon in Skyrim? It's pretty boring, right? No attacks feel like they have any weight and you might as well be playing a pretty looking whack-a-mole. Combat in Dragon's Dogma wipes the floor with just about any RPG in last gen. Having large monsters actually means something. You can climb them. Individual body parts of a Cyclops for instance will catch fire(and if you're persistent you can get the whole thing covered in flames). Same applies to the other large monsters. You can climb them too! Shadow of the Colossus meets fast-paced combat! Unlike a lot of open-world games there doesn't seem to be very many glitches in this. The only major one I know of is in the expansion, Dark Arisen, where your save data can become corrupted... The game has minimal story and while the premise isn't exactly original, it's really cool anyways, and the ending and message of the game is much deeper than many give it credit for. Stylistically it's a little bland but that's okay, it does so much right that a sequel would likely be near perfect. And this is from Capcom.

Honorable mentions: Sleeping Dogs for a great combat system, stylistic car/motorcycle chases, and driving is actually fun. Plus the game looks gorgeous on any platform.
The recent Batman games. Very influential combat system. Like a refined and faster version Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed's combat(where countering is everything).

    1. To The Moon - What can I say? This game knows how to hit your heart hard and brutally. With a large bag of quirky humor, intense drama, and tear jerking moments, this game provides more than its meager 2 hours of gameplay. It's difficult to explain this game without spoiling it so I strongly recommend you guys to play it. It's a story that will stick with you for a long time.

    2. Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale - Because CAPITALISM HO. Seriously. This game makes buying/selling items so much fun. Added with a dungeon crawlerish system to grab them nifty items and this game has so much replayablility and fun. Characters are so lovable and hilarious in their own little way with a fun plot to follow as well.

    3. The Last of Us - This game had universal reception and it has good reasons why it does. I never doubted Naughty Dog's talent of making great games since the Crash games on PS1. Every console, they made their name on it from Crash to Jak adn then to this generation of Nathan Drake. Now with The Last of Us giving us amazing plot, superb dialogue, great characters, and excellent gameplay, it leaves me itching for possible a follow up for this game. While I do prefer Uncharted's more cheesy action/adventure style of combat and gameplay, this game exceeds in mixing the balance of gameplay and plot.

    4. Tales of Graces f - Ah the Tales series. How much I love them to death as my favorite RPG game series (Sorry Final Fantasy. You had your time). While Xillia was a great game, I believed it lacked in certain areas and Graces has those areas covered despite being released earlier. Characters in Graces are very lovable, quirky, and also developmental. Skits are just as entertaining and great to watch. Battle style sits well with me. Also a great and satisfying ending (Which Xillia did no unfortunatly have IMO :c). One of my favorite Tales game.

    5. Resident Evil 6 - WHAT. RESIDENT EVIL 6? YOU SCRUB. THAT GAME IS A DISGRACE TO GAMERS EVERYWHERE. People need to learn to STFU. I'm so irritated and tired when people bash on this game. FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF SAYING THIS GAME IS NOT TRUE TO THE SERIES. SO WHAT? RE6 makes it here because it provided lot of our favorite characters, a huge lengthy plot spanning at least 15-20 hours, enjoyable gameplay, and the online futures for the added bonus. Not to mention, this game also has satisfying endings for ALL the story arcs. Die-hard RE fans can go away and their putrid hate somewhere else. Even if Capcom did make this game.

    Honorable Mentions:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Boring plot. Meh combat. Disappointing ending and boss fight. So why did I add this? BECAUSE MODS. Gosh the moding community can do wonders with games. With specific mods, they can change Skyrim into a whole new world. Not to mention, many mods improve almost, if not, all of the problems presented in the game. I always come back to this game to add new mods to enhance my gameplay.

Final Fantasy XIII - This unfortunately falls under the same argument of Resident Evil 6. I enjoyed XIII VERY much and a lot more than other past FFs. While I strongly disagree of them making those sequels to XIII, I still believe XIII had it right with their combat system, plot, and characters. Probably why this game was disliked was of OVERHYPE.

Assassin's Creed 2 - Everything meh in the first Assassin's Creed, this improved it so much more here. Making quests and the story a lot less non-repetitive, a likeable character, much more gameplay, and a better plot, it's no wonder this game brought the AC series into the light of gamers.

Uncharted 2/3 - It's like Indiana Jones and Lara Croft had a baby and this came out. Uncharted series hold a special place in my heart. If a game movie could be made, THIS is one of them. Stated earlier, Naughty Dog knows how to take an awesome game and add such great story to it, almost like a cinematic adventure people wised to be in. GOTY of 2009 Uncharted 2 was and Uncharted 3 nominated for many other awards. They well deserved them.

Yerp that's about it on the last gen of consoles.

Unless you mean Radiant Dawn, it's not last gen. It's the gen sixth gen being a GameCube game.

    I might do this. MIGHT.

My Top Five games of last gen are:

    1. FFX13- Okay, I may get a lot of hate for this but I don't care. FFXIII is to date my favourite final fantasy game, not that I've played a lot. The soundtrack was amazing, I got it as soon as I possibly could, and graphically this game was really good too! The combat system was a nice touch, I liked the way FFX-2's combat system worked so it was good to see it come back(the only other ones i've played before it were FF7, FFX and FFX-2), and the storyline pulled me in and made me want to play it even more.

    2. Bayonetta- This game was amazing. I liked the flow of it, the combat system was fantastic, and it reminded me almost of the older arcade games in a sense.

    3. Assassin's Creed 3- This one is the standout AC game for me. Why? It was the first assassin's creed game that actually drew me in and made me want to play it just because of the character themself. Connor's quest for vengeance, the way he dealt with things, and his father's past was really awesome to see played out and I'm glad I got to play through it rather than simply have it explained in a cutscene. Also, this may not be the best reason, but I got to kill things with a Tomahawk for the first time, what's not to love about that?

    4. Fable 2- Fable 2 was my introduction to the Fable series, and remains my favourite one out of it without a doubt. I really liked the levelling system, simply collecting xp to learn more abilities, and the fact that your appearance changed based on your fighting style was something very new to me, yet a real credential to the game. I liked the combat system as a whole, how it was easy to pick up and simple enough, and once you got used to it you just became this unstoppable monster that slaughtered everything in sight. The plot was pretty damn epic too.

    5. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3- Out of all fighting games, this one has to be right up there if not my absolute favourite. The combat system was changed from the old one (can't even begin to tell you how infuriating the one in NUNS2 was) which I was relieved to see, and the character roster was quite a lot, to say the least. In terms of storyline itself, it wasn't really it's own storyline because contained events from the anime itself, and I hadn't actually seen majority of what was covered in NUNS3 so I got to witness the events from later in the series, which only added to the effect.

Okay, these are listed in no particular order.

1- The Walking Dead - This game was just really amazing. JUST REALLY AMAZING. I mean, the combat scenes were, um, obnoxious. I get that it's a zombie game and you have to kill zombies, but it reminded me of how much of a game it was when you would die during those scenes and then, restart it. It really broke the flow of the narrative. But that is really it's only issue, because it really comes down to the choices you make, from dialogue to items, everything had a weight to it. And it was just emotionally draining with certain choices. It especially sucked though, when you misinterpret a dialogue choice, and it does the exact opposite of what you wanted to happen. It's a shame the 500 Days DLC didn't really have as much meat to it as it just focused on small scenes of different characters, but I'm curious to see where it takes me with Season 2. Really looking forward to it. But speaking of choices...

2- The Stanley Parable - I played the original mod and then I played the "HD" release, and holy moly, it is something. It satirizes choice in games, but also really brings to light the choices we make in every day life. Even the choices in the game all came out to scripted, limited endings, and it made me question if life is like that. Is it really just so limited? Limited by our decisions. Limited by our abilities. Is life part of a bigger picture or is it just a personal experience? The narrator is perfection and the whole game is just really well done. I really can't wait to see if Galactic Cafe makes more games.

3 - Borderlands 2 - I really really liked the humor in this game. It was definitely a step up from the original Borderlands, so much so, it made the original seem better than it actually was. The guns, the co-op, the story, the dialogue. I just really like this game. It's fun to use all the different abilities and having different classes keeps it fresh and exciting. Although I do miss having alien guns like in the first one. damn those were interesting.

4 - Journey - Not really sure what to say about this game that hasn't already been said. It's beautiful from start to finish.

I guess I’m going to have to subvert my original intention and make my numbers go in ascending order. Helps the tension.
Also, I’m a writer and a reader. I love games that have great writing, plot, characters, settings, lore, all that stuff. Some people focus on looks, some on how it handles and whilst I focus on the how it forms itself. Might not be the most conventionally fun game, still love Tetris and Resogun, but these generally blew my socks off.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    5.
    Grand Theft Auto 4

It’s a grand social commentary on American culture, ideas, politics, crime, celebrities, history and ultimately the American dream. This is a game severely underrated by a lot of people, because it wasn’t a game centred around using rockets, tanks, jet planes, and just pure chaos. But so what? You want your favourite series to stay the same? Alright, but I prefer experimenting and variety, which IV did and did a lot with it. It wasn’t perfect, but it was fun, varied and a great rendition of New York I still could navigate now. Its characters are always top, and its missions and interwoven plots is great
It’s funny actually, Saints Row, the GTA ‘clone’ over its series became more goofy, less serious and less emotional which got fans annoyed. GTA goes more serious and gungy and fans got annoyed. Seems funny all people wanted was just the right amount of chaos.
    Alright, rant over.

    4.
    The Last of Us

This was a game I was so worried about, I thought it was too good to be true. Stealth, contextual cover, limited ammo survivor horror like Resi4, avoidance to combat altogether, a deep plot in a beautiful post-apocalyptic world. Coming from a studio whose last series was a blandish hero with cheesy dialogue and big set pieces. I had little hope it was as good as the trailer showed. But thank goodness I was proven very wrong. This game is literally a novel made into a game, it translates perfectly. Pacing is just like a novel, slow as hell, then progressively ramps up till you hit the end where it all culminates into a mode where ‘you can’t put it down’. Even his slow filler parts, which are still lovely. It builds the relationship between Joel and Ellie perfectly. And the ending, my god yes, what a modern classic it all is. Not enough praise. I guess my only complaint would be that the encounters with some enemies felt kinda forced, would’ve been nice to interact with other survivors in more ways than strangling most of them.

    3.
    Fallout 3

First FPS game I’ve played that didn’t just revolve around guns. Well I mean, not just a shooting gallery. It’s also a fantastic world. One minute you can be recovering a slave, then meet a society of cannibals who invite you over for dinner, before heading to the Republic of Dave whilst fighting Super Mutants. Beautiful, unexpected and so freeing, you can do what you like, be who you like, go where you like. The weapons are varied, as well as the quests and walking around the Wasteland whilst listening to upbeat jazz music… ugh, so good. I still go back to it, just to feel the world, so well realised as it is.

    2.
    Bioshock

Would you kindly. What a well written game, deep, philosophical, relatable and yet fantastically absurd. Underwater city full of mutants you shoot at with magical slug powers set in the backdrop of 1950s? Come on, what pitch would that be. And yet here we have one of the best written, atmospheric, enjoyable, beautifully horrible game ever. Play it. Out of all these games, this is the most ‘pretentious’ being slightly highbrow, based around Ayn Rand’s writings and her philosophy and such, but it’s a good sort. One that makes you think. Not many things, especially games, do that. I stopped at times to think about what characters have said, and made me question myself, my beliefs. What a game.

    1.
    Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect was always going to be at the top, it seems, I just didn’t know which one. Ultimately went with 3.
The climax of the series was the best. It delivered exactly as I expected with a good number of twists and turns along the way, new and old characters alike. It took everything I had loved over the years and turned it into the goodbye I wanted. There aren’t many games or in general media, that says goodbye in a beautiful and satisfying way.
The dialogue, the narrative, the set pieces, the conflict. Epic. The combat was refined and deep, it had a multiplayer I could get behind and enjoy, with great enemy variations. I wanted to put the first Mass Effect up because it was the one I played the most (12 new games or so I believe) but in the end, I put up the game I’ve only played twice through. Why? Well why not? Truly because after years of waiting and delivering, I don’t get that in games much.

    Honourable mentions:
    Grand Theft Auto V
    Mass Effect 1 and 2
The Walking Dead The Game (Telltale)
    Heavy Rain
    Fallout: New Vegas
    Alpha Protocol
    Alan Wake

    1. Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite
Those stories. Those atmospheres. All that deconstruction. Those eve hypos. That everything. I consider the first Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite my favorite games of all time, actually. Would you kindly play them, if you haven't already?

    2. Portal 2
How are you holding up? Because I'm a potato.

    3. Skullgirls
Great graphics, characters, controls, combos, etc. Very fun.

    4. Skyrim
...Do I really need to explain this one?

    5. Divekick
IT'S A FIGHTING GAME WHERE ALL YOU CAN DO IS DIVEKICK, AND SETH KILLIAN IS ONE OF THE BOSS CHARACTERS AND HIS STORY IS THAT HE'S OUT TO PATCH THE WORLD. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?

Its hard for me to make a list being as I really only owned a Wii for the entire life span of this generation, only getting an xbox a year before its end and a ps3 at its end. But will try nonetheless.

    5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
I'm a sucker for these types of games and the 700 hours I put on it shows that. It makes this list only because this game has formed a lot of memories between me and friends.

    4. Metroid Other M.
Say what you will, I loved this game. The story, the gameplay controls, AND YES THE VOICE ACTING. It was the first Metroid game I completed 100% and gave me motivation to play the Prime games to 100% on the hardest difficulty. I only have managed to beat Prime 1 and Prime 3 though since the final boss in Echoes is just a pain in the ass. But anyway, I really liked this game as a whole.

    3. Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
Another game I thought had a perfect story and amazing graphics. Oh its on the Wii so it cant have good graphics. That depends if you define graphics by resolution and not art style. Not to mention this game was a challenge for me at first, and I always like that.

    2. Tales of Xillia
Perfect story, perfect gameplay, perfect character development. I don't need anymore.

    1. SONIC 06 Final Fantasy XIII
Now, before I say anything, I haven't played any other final fantasy games except for III which I never finished. In such I cant compare it to past titles so you might just see me as insane. Anywho, I loved this game with a passion. The fighting mechanics, the stunning overworld, and the story. All got to me and looked beautiful. I'm not good at reviewing games or saying why I like them so you will have to forgive me.

Given my increasingly bad memory it is going to be hard thinking of games and to write anything meaningful about them but I will try.

    5. Metal Gear Solid 4
MGS4 has the honor of being one of the few PS3 games I ever played, mostly because my PS3 crapped out on me and I never got a new one so I sadly missed out on a lot of games. But thinking back, MGS4 was easy one of my most played games. I played through the story mode several times, got damn near all the weapons, played extensively on MGO (even if I wasn't that good at it), bought all the DLC that came for it when I still had a PS3, and generally have good memories about it. Growing up I've always been an MGS fan, from playing a demo of MGS1 at daycare, to playing MGS2 at a friend's house, to owning my favorite MG game, MGS3. Though the game did suffer from some huge problems, such as overly long cutscenes, long install times, pretty flat bosses, and over explanation of the Metal Gear mythos which didn't really need to happen. Overall it will be missed.

    4. No More Heroes
What can be said about No More Heroes? One of the few Wii games I can say I properly enjoyed, No More Heroes brings with it a sort of colorful insanity I haven't seen in years. You play as Travis Touchdown, a broke Otaku who after buying a lightsaber off what amounts to Ebay decides the best way to spend his time is too become an assassin and now has to kill his way to the top of organization of assassins. An interesting game with colorful and memorable bosses, fun gameplay, and great music, No More Heroes holds a special little place in my heart. Though that isn't to say it has its problems. In order to go on a new Rank Match you have to do various odd jobs to earn money which can get really repetitive, the open world city is sadly isn't that great as there isn't really anything to do besides going to point a to b. That's all I have to say.

    3. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
*sigh* I love this game. Sure it is considerably more lighthearted and ridiculous then any MGS game before it but damn it I was entertain. The gameplay was great, the music was amazing, and the characters were so over the top I couldn't help but love most of them. Like a certain Senator. What else can I say?

    ...Well that works.

    2. The Walking Dead
Look the game was good. Telltale proved they are masters of the interactive story genre. The game gave me feels, made me like a child character without hating them, and made me feel as though my choices mattered so yeah. David Cage, this is how you make a game with an interactive story. You hack.

    1. Mass Effect series
Yeah I know it is probably cheating to put a whole series in the number one spot but fack you, my list I do what I want. The world of Mass Effect is one of my most favorite in video games. The series has had an interesting plot, memorable characters, just... I'm not sure how much more I can say I love it. I've played the series since the first game, watched it grow into something beautiful. And though I may have my own hang ups with the third game it had its fair share of things I liked. ...Not the God Child. That was bullsh*t.

    Honorable mentions:
    Darksiders
    Fallout: New Vegas
    Dead Rising 2
The Wolf Among Us (still on going)
    XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within
    Dishonored
    Assassin's Creed 2
    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
    MGS: Peace Walker
    Batman Arkham City
    Dragon Age: Origins

I added PSP games BECAUSE I HATE THIS SITE AND IM GONNA BREAK THE RULES!!!
((ACTUALLY I REALLY DIDNT MEAN TO BUT I HONESTLY CANT THINK OF THAT MUCH CONSOLE GAMES I REALLY LOVED))
    this is in no order
    [IMG]
It's what everyone has heard, its beautiful and emotional. You just feel this warmth that emanates from your surroundings, along with the beautiful soundtrack that puts a pit of sorrow in your stomach. Journey just makes you feel so much with so little. And honestly, the multiplayer is perfect, its seamless, its enjoyable, and the best part is that the game itself is still enjoyable without a buddy to tag along.

Yeah, its honestly not amazing, but for long as I shall live I will be a sucker for the Kingdom Hearts series. For all the handheld spinoffs this series has made, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will be my favorite out of them all. Some details of this game are not as savory as the main games, such as the lackluster voice acting for the main stars and the seemingly empty landscapes (obviously because of the PSP's limitations). But getting past that, its a great story to me, and I'm in love with the villains who might be my favorite ones in the series itself.

I know this is cheating, but the changes they made to the gameplay and the new female route make it feel like a whole new game to me.
Persona 3 will always have the most relatable characters to me, I understood Junpei's resentment of the main character and his awesome battle skills, I understood that he finally found something that he was good at only to be triumphed by someone else. I know what Yukari goes through and her jealously towards Mitsuru. I loved this cast. Persona 3 of course tries to do some anime cliches like THE BEACH SCENE!!, but it never felt as forced and obvious as Persona 4/Golden was. Another thing I loved was the design, while most of the compendium is the same as the past games, Thanatos and the main groups Personas look great.

Also lets be honest, I love games that lets me play as a girl.

I know this is not the best Fallout entry, and far from the best RPG ever made. But there is something about the zaniness of this game that is so appealing (got blown up by a mine? sleep it off!) and the over dramatic slow mo kills are honestly the best.

This game sets itself apart from other post apocalyptic games by showing the city grow into a forest instead of a drab grey mess. The characters are great, the design is great, and holy cow its got some of the best facial animations I have seen in gaming.

    Honorable mentions:
    Mass Effect series
    Sims 3
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
    Red Dead Redemption
    Sleeping Dogs

I accept everything but P3P, since it's a re release of a PS2 game. Might play like a different game, but it's till the PS2 game it originally was.
Apart from that I have to obviously allow any KH game on the list (look at the site banner for crying out loud).

If you nominated another game that wasn't P3P, this frown on my face might disappear.

Okay, I'll separate between Xbox 360 and Wii games. I mean, I think a couple of these games were available on both systems but I am just going to put it in the place I preferred playing it on.

    5. Super Paper Mario. I hadn't played other paper mario games so I thought the whole setup was unique. The controls were easy to get used to because you didn't have to swing around the wii remote. I haven't played it since I played through it the first time, but it was goood.

    4. Animal Crossing City Folk. Hehe. I love animal crossing games and with every game that comes out I love them even more. I still don't think any of them beat the original, but I really liked being able to go to a city this time rather than be stuck in one location(without needing another person's town to go to).

    3. No More Heroes. Oh I just loved the plot of this game, ya know. It had moments that really bugged me but I could live with it because the game was fun. I haven't played the sequel but I definately play to because it was great.

    2. Super Smash Bros Brawl... I really don't feel I need to explain this... NOSTALGIAAAAA.

    1. Twilight Princess, probably because I am a little bit biased when it comes to Zelda games(and I didn't play Skyward Sword yet -_-'). This is a game I just truly fell in love with and I spent hours playing it without moving. I don't do that with a lot of games anymore, I tend to break it up and come back to it later. The game was fun to look at and I love wolves... so when I saw a trailer with him as a wolf I was really happy about it. I mean I played this game for the first time when I was... ten... and at 10 I didn't care about the quality of games but I was gawking then. Sure it has it's moments where it doesn't look too good but it is the Wii... you win some you lose some. And I always come back and play this game (Although that fishing segment at the beginning annoys the heck out of me)

quick mention: I am not finished with these two games, but so far I really love Assassin's Creed and El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. Both for completely different reasons too. I love the combat and story for Assassin's Creed, but so far there isn't anything that catches my attention when it comes to the art style. El Shaddai however is probably the most gorgeous game I played on the system. The combat is difficult to get used to and the fixed camera bugs me from time to time, but I still love it. I wish I was finished with these games, but since I am not... I'm not numbering them.. sorry~

    5. Super Amazing Wagon Adventure (cstar wtf is that?) oh? SAWA is an indie game parodying Oregon Trail. It is a quick fun game to play that randomly generates different outcomes every time. To get everything in the game takes a couple of hours but I loved every single moment playing it. Who doesn't want to drive around fast shooting animals in a covered wagon that looks like a spaceship?

    4. Bioshock. What a unique atmosphere and a unique presentation. I was surprised with everything I received from this game and I loved the soundtrack. This is one of the few games this generation that actually got to me a bit. I don't really get afraid from games but this one knew how to get to me in certain ways. I really want to play the sequels but... I have yet to get to them.

    3. Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion. Yeah, I know it is also a PC game. I played it on the Xbox with a lot more expansions that I had on the PC(granted they were stuff packs with castles, manors, and horse armor). I am still not far into skyrim, because the quests bore me. With Oblivion, I remember not only doing as many quests as I could without getting bored, I remember actually taking the time to read the stories written in it, not all of them but a good amount. If only it didn't cost money for some of those expansion packs.

    2. Mirror's Edge. Personal preference maybe, but I loved how unique the style was. The story was a little meh, but I loved running around with a 1st person perspective without necessarily ever having to fire a gun(I think there is an achievement for that). And that is where the song Still Alive comes from, and I love that song.

    1. Portal... yeah I'm bad aren't I... I don't know, there is something about puzzle games that grabs me and Portal was so much fun to play. I wasn't bored at all, and although times did indeed stress me out, I loved the payoff and I always go back to it when I can... I don't own it and I really wish I did. I have no other words to really say for it other than it was my favorite game of this gen... although it may be a bit overrated.... but I'm okay with that.

My Top 5 Games from Last Gen Are (In no particular order):
    5. Resistance 2

I could have picked Resistance: Fall of Man or Resistance III, But I've only played Resistance 2 and Resistance Retribution, so yeah. One of the few shooters that I actually like. The combat is good, Multiplayer (Competitive and co-op) is the fun part for me, the story is just okay, but the final boss fight is just disappointing for me. At least during the final moments of the game where you have telekinesis makes up for it. (At least for me.)

    4. Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005 Version.)
Let's face it. Ever since ProStreet, the NFS series has gone downhill. And Most Wanted, the first NFS game to come out of a last gen console (Xbox 360), was the best from the NFS series (At least from my opinion.) I had a lot of fun playing the game and I just kept playing again and again when I was a kid. Customization was pretty good but it's lacking compared to Need for Speed Underground 2 (Then again, Most Wanted is set in the day unlike Underground 2 which is set in the night.) The story was meh, but being chased by the police on a high speed chase can be very fun, especially when ramming roadblocks, avoiding spike strips and SUVs, and being rammed by a helicopter. Although there can be a few bugs in the game, this game totally gives me nostalgia.

    3. Grand Theft Auto IV
A personal favorite from the series, GTAIV gives social views of the American Dream. Out of all the GTA games, GTAIV's story is one of the darkest and most serious of them. The game has a lot of main missions, side missions and some random encounters when wandering in Liberty City. The game turns the GTA series from cartoonish to more realistic. Although getting calls from people like Roman and Little Jacob can be annoying from time to time (Let's go bowling!), and for the fact that it's kinda easy to evade the police compared to past games, GTAIV is one of the best GTA games for me.

    2. Metal Gear Solid 4
Currently my personal favorite, MGS4 was the first MGS game that I played, and the one with a memorable story, being the last adventure of Solid Snake/Old Snake. New characters are introduced that are likable (ahemdrebinahem) while a lot of old characters, whether making an actual appearance or mentioned, returns in the game. This game brings a new generation of stealth, using OctoCamo and the Metal Gear Mark II to help you out on short distances. Aiming can be hard, and the story might not make sense the first time when I play the game, but after replaying it after playing the older games, the story makes a lot of sense (Even thogh there are moments in MGS4 that summarize past events.) The Online mode is very fun, even though it's hard for me to kill players at first. Overall, MGS4 gives it's very best for impressing me.

    1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Story was meh, the combat system is okay but needs some improvement (some goes for fighting dragons), the animations needs improvement, but this game is perfect for modding. I cannot believe how many mods are there for this game. If Bethesda would improve these flaws from past games, they would have made Skyrim one of the best games in the world.

As any of you noticed, games like The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, Beyond:Two Souls and the most recent games are not included om this list. In my defence, I really don't have a console, since my PS3 reached the end of it's lifespan during the summer of 2009, so cannot play those games..... yet......

I haven't played a lot of the gems from this past gen (MSG4, GTAIV/V, The Last of Us, etc.), so forgive me if my list seems a bit lackluster. In no particular order, my top five games from this past gen are:

    Infinite.png
I can hear some people scoffing in the distance, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Columbia. From the art style to the story, this game was a keeper in my eyes. Booker and Elizabeth may not have always seen eye to eye, but they needed each other, and their time together helped them grow as a team and as individuals alike. It's true that the gameplay was average, but that's fine, because in my opinion the story is what makes a game truly great.

    Journey.png
If you haven't gotten your hands on this game, I recommend doing so as soon as possible. Without a single line of dialogue, you're sent off on this, dare I say it, journey to climb to the top of a mountain. It may seem mundane at first glance, but as you explore the rich and open world around you, you learn that there are more dangers than you'd anticipated on your quest. The soundtrack is compelling, the multiplayer is simple and it's a game that moved me from start to finish.

    ME2.png
Never having played the first entry, it was nice of Bioware to give me a little interactive comic in order to catch up with the events of the first game and make some of the more meaningful choices in the process. When you're dropped in this universe, the story quite literally starts off with a bang. Having the main character canonically die in the first twenty minutes was a bold choice to say the least, and it only gets better from there on. Your whole crew is composed of individuals that you may come to love or continually despise. Regardless, who lives and who dies depends on your loyalty not only to the mission at hand, but also to your allies. You can befriend one, all or none of them, and get yourself into quite the cross-species love story along the way. No matter how you play it, it's your journey, and yours alone. While the third time might be the charm, the second is definitely the best in my eyes.

    TWD.png
I only recently got my PS Vita, and this game came free with the bundle I purchased. I'd heard good things about it from most everyone I asked, and as soon as I picked it up I was hooked. Whether you were a civilian or a convict: the past doesn't matter when your future's full of an undead apocalypse. There were moments where the time limit almost ran out on me because I couldn't decide who should live or die. There were parts where I choked up as well as my party members. There were moments I wanted to bash Ben's head in. From the very beginning I loved the direction Telltale took with this series, and their decision to focus on a group separate from that of TWD's main canon was a great one. It gave them enough freedom to craft a tale with individuals all their own, and its conclusion was both heartbreaking and satisfying.

    U2.png
Okay, so everyone knows I am biased as hell when it comes to the Uncharted series, but this was my first entry, and it was a masterpiece on Naughty Dog's part. The story was intricate, the characters were both loveable and dickwads all at once, and the locations are beautifully crafted. The puzzle elements may not have been the absolute best I've encountered, but this is an action/adventure game, and there was enough of both in this title to keep me going even after U3's release.

What's your personal top 5 games of last gen (PS3, X360, PSP, DS, Wii)?

For me, it's (in no particular order) KH: BBS, Battlefield 3, Borderlands 2, Final Fantasy Type-0, and Skyrim.

Honorable mentions go to: FF: Disidia, and Pokemon Diamond & Heart Gold.
