i think it's Mezzo piano (meaning middle quiet) rather than Molto Piano (meaning much quiet) but other than that I agree. Has anyone even attempted to sing the soprano line from The First movment form Vivaldi Gloria? It's torture. I think Vivaldi should have stuck to violin concertos.

i guess youre right ,but i still think that control of voice can make a great change in how you sound

and i never said a guy coulnt sing simple and clean, but to make it your own is the hard part if you cant reach high notes(most guys cant) you could sing acappella and that way you can make it so you can reach the notes, but singing it with the original its harder for a guy

i tried it seemed easy to me, but i sounded a tad like a girl, then again i am a tenor...........so........

    Disney Songs

Soon, I'm going to post something on me singing a couple of Disney Songs, Like
You ain't never had a friend like me (Aladdin)
    Chimnee cherrie (Marry Poppins)
Wan'na be like you (Jungle book)
And maybe a few others like Cruella DeVil.

    But my major problem is:
Whenever I practice, I sound great.
But when I get to my computer to record it, I suck.
It's either my mic sucks, or my nerves are shot because I'm posting it for alot of people to hear.

Umm... I intentionally meant to say molto piano. If I wanted to say mezzo, I would've specified it. I used molto piano to a double forte to emphasize my point.

Transposition? Simple solution is to sing it in a key that's comfortable.

Can you honestly say you're surprised? Vivaldi was Baroque, that's why. The voice was perceived as simply another instrument back then, no different than a flute or a violin. That's why the lines written for voice were extremely technical, but remained detached and impartial--and in some cases to today's standards, virtually impossible to do. It wasn't until the Romantic period when this perception changed and lines for vocals were written accordingly.

I know you de-repped me for this sort of thing before but ...

I din't think Molto Piano is even a term. I haven't ever seen it written in music. They usually say pianissimo or just piano. And I know that it's Baroque and all that about the voice not being just another instrument but I was only making the comment that it is very difficult to sing, like any other Oratorio piece.

    1) I've never derepped you. Ever. Let's not make assumptions. Again.

    2) Molto Piano is a term. Just because you haven't heard of it =/= it doesn't exist. Let's take the Romantic era for instance. Nowadays, do you really see "pppp" or even better: "ppppp" written in music? No, you don't. However, notation like that was used a lot back in the Romantic era. It's obviously not used anymore, but that doesn't change the fact that it exists--simply no one uses it due to the conventions of today's western music culture.

Molto Piano is a term. Depending on what generation of instructors/singers you deal with, they'll sometimes use it. I'm well aware that it's more 'common' to use pianissimo or just piano, however I don't see why it's a big problem for me to suddenly use a less commonly used term and get criticized as it being "I think you mean <this>" for it because *you've* never heard it before.

And considering what I was referencing the term for, I'm still quite puzzled as to why you even bothered to argue semantics with me to begin with. The only explanation I can fathom is that you tried to show off some of your music know-how, but in this case you ended up being severely mistaken.

And for the record: Molto Piano and pianissimo are notated the same way (pp). So I'm pretty sure you've "seen it written in music before"; you've just never had anyone dictate it as such.

Look, Souhrei, I'll PM you about this.

    Anyway, to advice.

I think it was a good rock/pop voice in there but it was very hard to hear because of the actual voice from the CD/MP3 etc.

More to come in a minute!

And it's just really hard for me too to sing without music.

My secret, go to youtube and search your song.

Got to have good timing skills though...

Under the sea, Cherv mentioned the Lil' mermaid.

    Thanks Cherv!

Three parts to it though, and in some parts I went over again just to correct some wrongs.

Sounds like you have a good voice Bama...only thing you might want to work on is your diction. Sounded like you had marbles in your mouth during some portions. You have a strong vrabato, and it wasn't overused.

also, i'm adding the full choral song for the solo i did with my madrigal group for your enjoyment.

Well, I have an old clip here from 2 years ago during my senior year in high school (I might've posted this a long time ago). It was during the annual Kiwani's Music Festival held here in Toronto where different high schools around the province I believe come together to compete. My high school (Cardinal Carter Academy for the Performing Arts) competes every year.

The song is one of two that we did, called Little Lamb, sung by the SATB Senior Choir (composed of Grade 10s to Grade 12s) of Cardinal Carter Academy. White_Rook was singing 2nd Tenor for this piece, and I was singing 1st Bass for the first half, then switched to 2nd Tenor for the second half.

We won first place with a score of 96/100 I believe. Hope you enjoy.

I converted it to .mp3 for bandwidth friendliness, but the original 41.1mb .wav file is on my filefront. The quality is better on the .wav naturally, but only those here with refined ears from choral experience can appreciate the .wav file a lot more.

EDIT: The .mp3 file still exceeds the attachment limit so I had to upload it elsewhere.

    Destined:

I like the male section but I think the females were a bit... er.... pitchy. There were some bits of it where the intonation wasn't 100% but no-one's perfect.

    perfect voice?

but ,i think ,a perfect voice(if there is such thing) would be boring to hear........after a while

i think what makes something look good,is perhaps the striving for perfection, not the perfection itself

You are preaching to that choir man. We had problems with the high sopranos. The song was the strongest the male section had been all year. But yea, the sopranos never fully blended with each other or with the lower sopranos in this song. Not sure about the Alto part though.

    Thanks for your input.
