It's going to be close, but i'm going to have to give my vote to Sidney Crosby this coming ballot. He's going to barely edge out Ovechkin but the west is wide open in goal.

Wait...you aren't talking about the NHL All Star Game....

    Well this is ackward...

i'm SURE obama is going to win, but i dislike Obama. i get the impression that he's all talk and no substance. he just likes to play the blame game and blame everything on the government. he also promises quite a lot so it would be a shock if even half the stuff he promised would actually be kept. i personally think he's a bit arrogant because i remember one time he said that he was gonna unite the country and i was thinking to myself "all these presidents before couldn't do it, what makes you think you can do it?" and he didn't even give a rationale as to how he was going to do this. also, people say that experience isn't important, WRONG, it IS important, it may not be the deciding factor, but it's NOT something that should be ignored. Obama has no experience and to people who say to give him a chance: he shouldn't be GAINING his experince during the Presidency, it's not exactly an entry level position.

of course i'm not voting for John Mc Cain either. but i dont' think Sarah Palin is as big a joke as everyone says

OMFG that is true to its word.

I agree Obama isn't a very good choice either but his mind has stayed intact throughout the campaign. That much cannot be said of his competition. I mean seriously, who the fuck told him it was a good idea for him to pick a hick from Alaska who supported the bridge to nowhere and believes in a batshit insane religion that thinks the end of days are upon us? Even better question: why'd he agree with the ******? I honestly am beginning to hate both of the candidates now, but given the choice, I'm never voting for McCain. I don't care if Obama would screw up the country just as bad, I'm not putting a nut in a position to take over the country (I'm refering to Palin if you haven't guessed.)

And thus Trogdor must deliver us from the depths of gridlock and hellfire.

I agree. Exactly why he should go back to the Senate for a while then run again later. He'll get plenty of experience there.

Experience doing what? Getting as many earmarks for your state as you can? Hate to say it but, though I think experience is necessary, I have almost no faith in anyone's representative in the Senate, and even less in the collective of them. I don't know where experience should come from, but this congress of ours sucks and probably won't do a thing to make him any better at any job.

exactly, because being a President isn't exactly an entry level position. i still
think that Senators are incompetent because ALL they do is say "pass, fail, or present"

Unfortunately you're right. On top of all politicians being scum bags, many Presidents have to come from the Senate, no less, which honestly isn't as good in my opinion as being a governor or a mayor. They are more like Presidents.

I am definitely voting for Obama. I do not dislike McCain and feel he's been a great senator and done a very good job in some things.

Also, as for the old 'experience' argument, experience also means that someone is trained to a way of thinking and pattern of doing things that is part of the reason we are in the position we are in today. The same mode of thought, reactions to problems, etc. It is -not- something to be so proud of.

Experience is helpful but if not coupled along with actual sincere wisdom, intelligence, independent thinking, cognitive quick reactions etc..it's nothing. It means we have an old fart in the office who does the exact same thing every other one has done.

I do think McCain is an intelligent man, but I do not at -all- agree with his choice of Palin. Nor do I agree with the stances of the platform he uses as I feel they are part of what has put this country in a mess in the first place. He is more 'Republican' than he was in his years in the senate, ironically, because he has to cater to a bunch of redneck, super religious quack old people out there that are bigoted and 'fear change'. McCain is right when he says he used to be a maverick in the senate but now his platform way too much resembles what the conservative fundies want and he still cannot make them happy. He would have been better just being himself and appealing as Reagan did to both Dems and Reps.

Basically, I am an Independent, so not registered with either Dems or Reps and can't be bought out that way. I've got no party loyalty. I just think, hearing Obama actually line out more plans than McCain and his platform goes on with what I sorely think this country needs right now, and well, Palin... I swear if she winks, smiles and says 'say it ain't so, and 'you betcha!' anymore... ungh. She's awful and I don't see why people think this woman has a brain to be a potential candidate should McCain die or be hospitalized for sometime. It just scares me that Americans seem so ..dumb to not see how dumb she is.

Anyway..I wrote another essay in the Spam Zone so I have stopped the Apocalypse for another year.

In the end, this topic should probably be moved to the Discussion area. If you want me to move it, let me know LC. If not, we carry on.

Obama looks like hes going to win. If one good thing has come from this economy crash, its the fact that its on everyone's mind and its McCain's weakpoint. There is no way Obama will let up on the "our fundamentals are strong..." statement.

There are few other factors. First off, in both debates, its unquestioned in terms of who won: Obama. The swing states all look like they're in Obama's favor, if not, hes leading by a close tie.

Lastly, Palin is a dumbass. McCain choosing her was probably the biggest hellmary in this entire election. During the VP debates, Biden clearly won. All Palin did was relate each question to energy, let alone answer them at all.

If Obama keeps his momentum up, he'll probably win.
