I think some of y'all were taking this thread way too seriously, but honestly I can't say for sure because I'm not the one who made the thread.

I do agree though, that if this was a serious problem with some users, they should be, y'know, posting it in a better place. As for me, I don't expect any change in the censors, and I honestly don't care because I'm just fine with the way it is now.

But on the topic of swearing...seriously, there's a point where you know it's excessive, so don't overdo it. I hope that I haven't been doing that, since I don't think I have.

Ok yes I know if we didn't have it people would get away with saying offending things and posting disturbing content.

It's not necessarily about what can and can't be done, but about barriers to entry

Making it harder to curse and cracking down on it in more populated sections makes it less likely that kids will be blocked from browsing the site by overreactive parents who see so much as a 'damn it to hell' and think TIHS WEBSITE ARE POSSES BY THED EVIL!!!!

In fact I usually censor myself outside of the 'Zone for that reason

Not every law necessarily needs to outright halt an activity or behavior; sometimes you just want to discourage it without banning it altogether

Of course this largely depends on an honor system but if I haven't been banned yet for the shit I say then I think it's workin' all right

 

Exactly, and hell, even I bypass the filter sometimes. I usually don't outside of spam (but lol misty u don't post anywhere else shut up yes i do) but if I curse in my posts in spam it's for ~comedic effect~

And that's really how we handle it. If you're routinely bypassing the censor to call someone names or be overly vulgar, we'll talk to you. If your posts has more stars than the night sky you also might get a message.

 

Unless you reaaaaallly love asterisks, although you may need to talk to someone about that. It's not a normal, healthy obsession.
