"You wouldn't want to know what I've become..." She snorted, picking her head up and drunkenly grasping her glass. "I'm not who I was... Bright eyed and innocent... I'm anything but that now..."

"and you wouldnt want to know what I've become.....but like you said before...you dont care right? Well I dont care. You werent alwasy gonna be innocent."

 

"Not innocent doesn't even begin to describe me these days..." She said, dropping her head onto the table again, unable to even look at him.

 

"Is this how its gonna be?"he asked after draining his glass"You not even being able to look at me?"

 

"You ran off and left me without so much as a chance to say good bye, you can't expect everything to go straight back to normal..." She mumbled.

 

"I didnt...."he sighed shaking his head"Clarissa was right....this was a bad idea....Should've let her talk me out of it...but noooo I had to go and-"the rest of his sentence was muffled by his hand,he seemed to be talking more to himself.

 

"Clarissa?" Hermia said, her head picking up at the sound of another girl's name. The murderous look in her eyes returning. "Who's this Clarissa?" She snarled.

 

He edged away"A girl I worked with....more a woman than a girl she's in her 30's....she was just a friend."

 

"Yeah, right..." She muttered bitterly looking back down at the table.

 

"she was...."he said "I swear...I dont see girls the way I used too...I only see you..."he sighed"Your part of the reason I came back....I hated missing you..."

 

A silence hung over the two of them for a while, before it was softly broken by a shuddering sob from the slumped figure of Hermia.

 

"all I can say Is....Im sorry.."he muttered"Come on....Lets go home before we both end up with liver failure.."he said getting off his chair unsteadily.

 

Hermia reluctantly hauled herself off of the seat.

 

River mad his way towards the door

River was still on his bed,where he'd collapsed the night before

Mickey had spent all night trying to figure out why he was back....not that he wasnt happy his son was home...but why now? after six years?

 

Hermia was slumped against River's wardrobe, Lake had refused to let her leave the house in the state she was in and as they had no spare beds she'd put in with River. In some small way Lake hoped that something would happen between the two of them that would make their relationship go back on track. But as they'd both passed out pretty much as soon as they stopped standing it hadn't really worked.

Lake wandered into the room where Mickey was, she was tugging a brush through her long curly hair. It was something she ended up doing every morning, and she hated it. The mattes she got in it during the night were agonising to tease out again. "You all right...? You barely slept last night."

 

Elena peeked into her brothers room and shook her head,then went down stairs"why is Hermia on the floor?"

"Yeah...Im fine...just thinking about River...do you think they let him leave? like they do for the muggle army? if so He'd be expected back....but he says he isnt going back..."

 

Ocean, who since joining the aurors had become used to surviving on very little sleep, was awake and downstairs sorting out breakfast. She felt that seeing as she was still living at home she should at least try to help out from time to time. She looked over at her little sister and sighed. "Because her and River are having some really big problems I expect."

"Maybe he quit? Or served out his contract?" Lake shrugged. "We don't know the rules really. Ow!" She yelped loudly as she tugged through a very large knot.
