You cant hide forever

"Dad...they need to find me first to kill me."he said"just listen to me...your getting worked up over nothing."


"why River? why AWOL? why?"

"Because I got sick and tired of killing people!" He snarled,"I felt like a delivery boy bring back the news of what I'd done!"

 

Jacob continued to swing, humming slightly to try and drown out the noise of the argument.

 

"what?"


"Yeah....and they took emotions away so we couldnt feel sorry for what we'd done! happy now? you all know."he said "and this."he picked up the sheet with his picture on it"Is never going to happened again"he ripped it up

 

Ocean sighed slightly, well the emotion thing certainly explained an awful lot about his behaviour. And it suddenly called a lot of new problems into focus. "River..." She said quietly, almost as though she couldn't believe what she was hearing.

 

he took a breath to calm himself,before he lost it,that had been his one fault,his temper.

 

"Maybe you should go home..." Ocean suggested quietly. "The drive will give you time to calm down..."

 

He nodded" Bye,grandma...grandpa....see ya Jake.."he said leaving the house quickly,


Elena stared after her,her eyes big and wide with fear

 

"Bye River." Jacob said, not looking towards the man whom he was addressing in fear of seeing the angry faces of the family.

"You okay Elly...?" Ocean asked, walking over to her sister.

 

"D-did he mean that"?She asked almost tearfully"did he really hurt and kill people?"

 

"Well..." Ocean didn't really know what to say, she'd never even told her sister about her job. Sure she was a healer, but she was a healer in a tactical force unit for the Auror office. She'd handled her fair share of kills in the last year or two that she'd been there. "I don't really know..." She settled on, chickening out.

Meanwhile back at home Hermia and Lake were sat around in the living chatting about typical girly things such as hair and make up. Lake was trying her hardest to keep Hermia's mind off of more serious matters, like the state of her relationship. In Lake's mind Hermia was far too depressed, even considering everything. So she was going to do whatever she could to keep her occupied.

 

"Do you believe him?"

River,who'd driven faster than was legally allowed ,slammed the door violently behind him before stomping upstairs

 

"I really don't know what to believe." Ocean sighed, putting her arm around her sister to try and comfort her. "He did join an army after all..."

"Sounds like someone had a bad day..." Lake sighed, moving to get up to go see what River was so upset about. But she stopped just as she was about to rise from her seat.

"I'll go check on him Lake..." Hermia said, jumping to her feet. "Maybe you should go and ask the other's what happened?" She suggested as she headed up the stairs.

"Good idea." Lake nodded, promptly disappearing with a loud crack as she disapperated.

 

He threw himself down onto his bed so hard he actually snapped one of the legs off

Mickey stared at the torn paper AWOL?...killing? River...what did you get yourself into...?"

"He cant have!"she said stamping her foot"he;s river..."

 

"I think you're getting a bit big for throwing yourself onto that poor bed." Hermia laughed weakly as she wandered into the room, shutting the door behind her. "What happened...?" She asked, sounding slight apprehensive.

"What people do for their jobs isn't always a reflection of who they are you know." Ocean said, trying her best to find a way to calm her little sister down.

Lake appeared in the back garden just in time to narrowly miss being kicked in the head by Jacob's feet. She jumped forwards quickly and saw Mickey. She wandered over to him, the look on his face concerning her deeply.

 

"Dad knows.....he knows Im AWOL....they all do...apart from mum...he also knows what I did the past six years..."he said"Y'know sometimes I really hate my life...theres a few good things....but I hate it.."

she nodded

"Lake....he's AWOL.."

 

Hermia sighed and sat down near his head. "You're AWOL?" She asked quietly, trying to sound as understanding as possible. "And what happened...?"

"H-He's... He's what?" Lake said, her eyes widening and looking at him in utter disbelief.

"Maybe he had to kill those people, like they were bad people who needed to be stopped."

 

"Yeah."he said staring at the ceiling"I didnt want anyone knowing anything"he said,his eyes were acctually wet,as if he were trying hard not to bawl like a baby"what happened? I told them that I'd killed people...had emotions taken from me in a operation....and they...didnt say anything...I even told Jacob...if I want someone dead....they die soon after..."

"awol."


she nodded again

 

Hermia gently wiped what tears had fallen away from his face. It was a lot of information to take in a once. But one phrase stuck out most in her mind, being in a relationship with a werewolf was always going to involve death but this was different.
"You had your emotions taken away...?" She asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"You're kidding me...?"

 

"Some"he said"it feels like they're returning....you arent meant to wake during the operation...I did....it didnt work properly."

No."he said"and...there was an operation...to take his emotions away.."

 

"So... what does that mean? Really...?" She asked, obviously very worried about the consequences of this operation. Was this to blame for why they felt so distant? She'd stopped herself from getting close again and he'd been stopped.

Lake gasped slightly, unsure of how to really react. But you could tell she wasn't happy about the matter in the slightest as the tears in her eyes stung.
