Well, I agree that the FF series contains some of the best games in existence. FF games were the first to show us that videogaming could be an art form, as well as entertainment. I certainly think anyone calling themselves a "gamer" should at least have tried them. That's not to say that they have to like them or anything.

 

Final Fantasy isn't the be and all end all. While it's one of the most successful RPG series in history, it really depends on who you ask, not everyone likes the style of gameplay that Final Fantasy has, some people prefer to pick up and gun and shoot the hell outta aliens and zombies. I doubt even every gamer has tried them, but bugger me if someone hasn't even heard of them, then they must live under a rock...in mars.

 

So true. People should at least try the games, but there will never be a situation where everyone likes them. You could easily say the same thing about many other series, like KH, GTA, Halo etc.

What I mean to say is, you should give everything a try and not decide you don't like a game if you've never even played it.

A Gamer isn't defined as someone who plays FF games, a Gamer is a Gamer.

The FF series is a huge one and incredibly popular <3 I for one adore it, however, there are one hell of a lot of other games out there, it is a big wide world in the gaming community and FF is just a small part of it xD

IMO a person cannot be called a gamer if they restrict themselves to just one game/game series, the gaming world is diverse.​

Although the FF series is by far one of the most popular RPG games in history... There are other games which also make a gamer... You can't just play one game from one title to become a gamer...

Technically anyone who plays video games is a gamer... I suppose we have to respect that some people just don't like FF as much as we do. I think people should be open minded (as with all things in life) and try what's out there (including FF), but in the end, people who like other games have as much a right to be called gamers as we do.

 

Disagree: You can't consider yourself that much a fan of the RPG genre, perhaps, if you've never played a Final Fantasy game.

Agreed. Not all gamers will like ever type of genre. Like, one gamer may not like FPS, so he/she may have never played Halo etc. That doesn't mean he/she isn't a gamer. There's a vast section of types of games n' not everyone is gonna like 'em. Some folk don't even like FF but that's their preferance. Doesn't make 'em any less than a gamer.

I Love RPG's, so i've played most FF's.

 

I disagree, not playing Final Fantasy series it's kind of... a crime, but just for RPG players. A gamer is everyone that play games without caring if it is a Halo, Kingdom hearts, World of Warcraft, or whatever.

 

I think you can call yourself a gamer if you haven't played a FF game but I think you can call yourself a great gamer if you have played all of the FF games.

 

Not all FF games are available to folk. N' besides, a great gamer isn't classified by the number of games you've played in a series, but how well you play 'em.

No I dont agree at all, just because you havnt played FF doesnt meen you not a gamer . Thats like saying your not a baseball fan without likeing the Royals...

 

No one. They're not that fun to some people (such as me). What if you're a PC gamer? Or a shooter gamer? Or just hate turn-based RPG's?

True about all of that, just to me you would be a great gamer if you played, or should I say "mastered" all of the FF games

 

Oh, I forgot about that one. However, from what I understand, its different from the traditional FF games. Same with FF XII. My comment was using the traditional FF games (I-X2) for comparison.
