    me some anime movies.

Okay so there are some guidelines
    • It must be a movie.
    • Not something like Naruto movie 12 or whatever ****. I'm talking standalone movies or movies that don't tie into a larger franchise, but that doesn't exclude movies that created a franchise or were adapted from a manga. If you're not sure, go ahead and list them anyway.
    • Nothing Miyazaki or Ghibli. I'm looking for slightly more obscure stuff.
    • Nothing Makoto Shinkai.
    • i want it to be at least kinda good..
    I've seen these:
    Akira
    5 Centimeters per Second
    Children who Chase Lost Voices
    Grave of the Fireflies
    The Garden of Words
    Metropolis
    Redline
    Tsumiki no Ie

things I already plan to watch. maybe. eventually.
    Ghost in the Shell
    Summer Wars
    Jin-Roh
    Wolf Children
    Paprika
    Tokyo Godfathers
Colorful (I got halfway through this and didn't like it but I'll give it another chance)

    • Ghost in the Shell (like, how have you not seen this?)
    • Little Witch Academia (super short)
    • Mind Game (one of the trippiest movies ever; ironic that I watched it with KH-Vids people)
    • The Place Promised in Our Early Days (same director who did 5 Centimeters per Second)
All I've got that fits the criteria...yeah I need to watch more anime movies.

    Summer Wars
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

    Both by Mamoru Hosoda

Both are beautifly animated films. Summer Wars is a good family film, as in it says something deep about family, while Girl is a fun scifi story that takes liberties with time travel. Personally, I like Girl more, but I have almost all of Summer Wars memorized.

The director of the films also did Digimon: Our War Fame, which is why a lot of the plot is very similar, but the two films are vastly different.

    Tekkonkinkreet
    Perfect Blue (Satoshi Kon film)
    Gunbuster
    Diebuster
    Sword of the Stranger
    Metropolis
    Brave Story
Kara no Kyoukai (it's a series of seven movies of varying lengths)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Gurren-hen and Lagann-hen (although I'd recommend watching the series first)
One Piece: Strong World (JUST WATCH IT!)

That's all I think of at the moment.

almost everything i wanted to say was already listed... but you should definitely watch Jin-Roh, Summer Wars, and Wolf Children. All 3 of them are great! Perfect Blue and Sword of the Stranger are a must.

now the ones i wanted to recommend that haven't been already are Appleseed and its sequel, Appleseed Ex Machina. There is a third movie coming out on BD later this month as well which I am super excited for.

i'll warn you though, Appleseed is CGI. the first movie has the best artstyle imo because of the cel-shaded look that Ex Machina abandoned for whatever dumb reason. still good tho.

    i lied i remembered some:
    karas: the revelation
    the sky crawlers
    patlabor 1 and 2
    steamboy
    blood: the last vampire
    ocean waves
    millennium actress
    origin: spirits of the past
    nitaboh
    sky blue
    vexille

all of these are at least decent and worth watchin'

+1 The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
    +1 the Pokémon movies

Pokémon Origins - Four-part retelling/love letter to the first generation of Pokémon games. Each part is 20-30 minutes.
like every Studio Ghibli movie ever - do i even need to explain myself
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva - Standalone movie based off of the DS/3DS game series. I've yet to finish watching it myself, but the Layton games are pretty fun and charming. About two hours long or so, I think.

guys Pokemon movies would be excluded with the first condition. Besides, I've seen most of them. Same with One Piece movies (didn't like Strong World anyway). Cowboy Bebop would as well, but I already planned to watch that at some point so it's w/e. Thanks for the recommends, though.

All I've got is Black Rock Shooter (where I got my avy). There is a lot of BRS stuff, but they don't connect to each other. Just got the same kinda theme to it.

only one. I watched The Place Promised in Our Early Days which Haya recommended. But I was about to watch it anyway so it kinda doesn't count. I'll prob watch Ghost in the Shell next, which Haya also recommenced. I'm not playing favorites I swear. After that I'll probably watch Jin-Roh. I want to watch Summer Wars but I'm waiting for the right moment. All of these are things I already planned so after those I'll start going through and picking things that interest me. I take a long time to watch anime.
