"Thanks..." She whispered.

 

"No problem." he said, smiling. He began to walk her back to the others.

 

Tear walked with him back to the others, but she stared at the ground the whole time, thinking. Did Masota really love her...? Or was he just saying that out of pity? She felt tears well up in her eyes, but she blinked to hold them back.

 

He looked at her and saw the tear. He reached over and wiped it away. "Don't cry." he said.

 

Tear looked up at him and then looked at the ground again. "I can't do this anymore..." She said, warily. "I can't keep fighting like this... I'm better off erased..." She closed her eyes.

 

"No you're not!" he said.

 

"Yes I am..." Tear said softly. "I only make things harder for people by being here... I haven't helped anyone even one time! It should've been me that was erased this morning instead of Fayte..."

 

"Where do you think I would be if you weren't here? What do you think'll happen if you are erased?" he asked.

 

"You'll find a new partner- one who's stronger and smarter... And I'll be out of everyone's way," She responded and looked down.

 

"But I like having you as a partner." he said.

 

"Why?" Tear asked and looked down. "All I ever do is get in the way and bring you down... Well no more!" She said and stepped away from him, trying not to fall over. She closed her eyes and scanned for noise nearby.

 

"What are you doing?" he asked.

 

"Finding noise..." She replied, a tear running down her cheek. When she found some, she started to run over to them.

 

Masota ran after her.

 

Tear hit three noise, each of them one time. Then she stood with her arms spread out wide, waiting for them to attack.

 

Masota reached her and slashed at the noise, killing them. "Are you crazy?" he asked. "I don't want you to be erased. Don't you want to find out if i'm your brother?"

 

Tears fell down Tear's cheeks. "You're not," She said. "I know for a fact... My brother's different... Besides, he died a long time ago..." She turned her back to Masota. "We won't make it to the end, anyway... Well, I won't... But you can... Without someone like me dragging you down..." She ran over to more noise and did the same thing, once again holding her arms out to her sides.

 

He followed her and killed those noise as well. "I won't let you do this. You aren't dragging me down. You're a great fighter. We will beat this game!" he said.

 

"FINE!" She shouted. "If you won't let the noise erase me, then I'll erase myself!" She looked around and found a sharp, wooden stick nearby. She picked it up and faced Masota. "I can't do this anymore, Masota... I can't help you beat the game... I'm sorry..." She said and took a deep breath before stabbing herself in the stomach with the stick.

 

"NO!" he shouted, running at her, but it was too late.

Higami appeared and said "How touching. He walked up to Tear and asked "Would you still like to be a Reaper? I promise I won't erase my brother if he finds a new partner by tomorrow."

"What do you mean, you're brother? I'm not related to a Reaper!" Masota said.
