lol....i'm not so sure...but hey....the KH universe is a whacky thing.

 

This is a very common theory. Many think that because they have similar names, that they might be related. This is very unlikely. Plausible, but unlikely.

 

I highly doubt that Xion is connected to Zexion. I think she is more related to Aqua more than anything, maybe Kairi, possibly Namine.

 

Some people have been saying that her true name is Ino, which would make sense since it was the name of a Greek/Roman sea goddess (Kairi=sea Aqua=water). The actual story of this goddess, though, is quite tragic:

She was once a mortal princess named Ino, a daughter of King Kadmos of Thebes. She and her husband Athamas incurred the wrath of Hera when they fostered the infant god Dionysos. As punishment Hera drove Athamas into a murderous rage and he slew his eldest child. Ino grabbed the other, and in her escape leapt off a cliff into the sea. Zeus felt pity for her, and transformed her and her son into immortals.

There's another version of Ino's story that states she was driven insane by Hera as well, and then threw herself into the sea. This story may have nothing to do with Xion's character, but it seems possible...
I am beginning to wonder if Xion was originally a keybearer of the far off past, or at least a copy of one. The names we know so far all have a common theme. Sora, Kairi, and Riku are all Japanese names for the elements. Ven, Aqua, and Terra are all Latin names for the elements. There are many clues that there have been keybearers before all of them, so perhaps their names had themes as well.
There is something that bother's me about Xion. She seems a little hostile towards Axel and Roxas in the trailer, yet in the recent scan, she seems to treat them as close friends. Perhaps she loses it in the end. This is why I think she is connected to Ino, but I think it's a little early for this to really have any significance.
What do you think?

 

Wow. Nice theory. Especially about the goddess of the sea. Where did you find that? Great job with that. I think thats very plausible that thats where the creators got the name.

 

It's true that Namine's name is no anagram, but I thought that was because she was a nobody with a "special birth". I definitely don't think the resemblance between Kairi and Xion is a coincidence--especially since twilightsbringing posted that great story about the goddess Ino--but I don't know if Xion is neccisarily Kairi's nobody. I'm certain that they have a connection, but unless we've been misled by the whole Namine-is-Kairi's-nobody thing, I don't think that Xion is her nobody. She could be something else to Kairi/Namine/Aqua.

 

well....one thing is certain she has kairi's appaerance...maybe due to sora, maybe due to kairi.

but this special birth thing seems like an excuse to add new characters, by making a super-weird twist....heck special birth can lead to saying anything and if it sounds plausible then they add it.

just like the lexicon...wich was added way latter, and was an on the moment creation.

 

Thank you. I had read "The Odyssey" by Homer a while back, and I remembered that Ino saved Odysseus from Poseidon at one point. I hated "The Iliad," but "The Odyssey" was actually a really good book. Then when someone, (I forget who), said Ino was an anagram of Xion's name, it clicked. I've got some more ideas about who Xion is, but I need to organize them.

 

Dude, that's actually a really good theory. It makes a lot sense, and knowing Square Enix, they would totally do something like that or something along those lines.

Yeah, all of these "special connections" are becoming so abundant that it's getting old. First there's Sora and Roxas, then Sora, Roxas and Ven. There's Riku to Terra, and now Kairi has three: Namine, Aqua, and Xion. They need a new gimick.

 

Maybe Xion is the "child" of Sora and Kairi.:D

 

Do you think we will be able to play as Xion in the game. We can play as the others. Why not her?

 

I think it is confirmed she is on the playable list. According to the bloggers who went to TGS, when selecting the members in multiplayer mode she was there but not available. As were Demyx, Zexion, etc.

well it's kinda difficult to explain......

U know when a heartless is created ......the shell it left behind starts to act on their own....and creates what is known as a nobody......

But what happens with the memories of that person? What if.......Memories acted the same as nobodies......then they would be a new species......

So....when sora turned into a heartless.......Roxas and Namine were created out of the 2 hearts sora had......and Xion is the memories of kairi that started acting on their own....that would explain why she looks a lot like kairi.....

i bet memories are going to be more important......Don't U think its a coincidence that Nomura FINALLY decided to release Re:CoM to the US(and other countries) He probably wants us to refresh our memories on memories(that kinda sounded dumd :D)

If I get your post right, you're hinting to that Xion is Kairi's Heartless. I've had that thought a long time in my head but I wanted to see would anyone else figure it out. Anyways, it seems that this is impossible now, especially that Xion's been confirmed to be a Nobody, not a Heartless.

At the moment I'm betting to the Ion-theory, as it seems most likely. And coders might recognize this, Xion's Keyblade is FAKE. :D

 

I get your point but I can't see why Xion would have anything to do with Sora...
I'm thinking Xion and Naminé are some kind of a 'split-nobody'. So Kairi's nobody split into two and Xion and Naminé are like different sides of her...

 

Interesting. However, are you saying that Xion is a new species based on memories and not a nobody? If you are, then how would she be able to join the Organization?

yeah maybe they were confused and they thought she was a nobody...and remember (from trailer) that xion thought that riku was from the organization(because of cloak).......its not that easy to spot a nobody right away,(human form) remember they only act as if they had hearts.....

well.....IDK....maybe becuse sora had kairi's heart!!!!......that's why I think she's a bit connected to sora....

What if Nomura is trying to guide us to the wrong direction.....and reveal the Ace up his sleeve and surprise us....

 

okay from what I can tell Xion dies in this new game. I mainly think this because well what elce you gonna do with her
oh and question not related to Xion is the game on the DS only or will I be able to play on PSP

 

I'm thinking she meets Kairi (probably in her KH2 form) and they merge.
