    Well, let's do the math.

    Riku + hit by big huge flashy light = turns back to normal.

    Either that killed Xehanort's heartless, or he was expelled from his body. In theory. =X

    I think it's up to Riku whether or not Ansem comes back. If the darkness inside him consumes him, it might be possible for him to come back.

    Well, at the end of chain of memories he said that he would come back. I think he will.

    Of course he isn't dead. That Xehanort was not even the real one.

    i think that the Xehanort's Heartless that Riku faces in CoM is not the real Xehanort. If he were, he would less concered about bugging Riku and more about trying to reclaim Kingdom Hearts while Sora is not around. I think it was some kind of 'imprint' from Riku's possession- a manifestation of Riku's inner darkness. The real Xehanort, both Heartless and Nobody, is dead, but traces of him remain in Riku. Theoretically this 'imprint' could gain control of Riku if he succumbs to the darkness again, but Riku's personality has changed a lot since the first game so I think this is unlikely.

    Xehanort
    Xehanort's Heartless (Ansem)
    Xemnas

    THREE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. "Ansem" and Xemnas are two halves of a whole. Xehanort. Xehanort himself isn't dead, per se, but the Kingdom Hearts equivalent: He lost his heart to darkness (willingly, albeit) and is therefore GONE. G-O-N-E. GONE.
    Xehanort's Heartless (Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, whatever you want to call him. Xehanort's Heartless is what he is) was defeated at the end of Kingdom Hearts 1. The Light from the Door at the end of the game allowed Riku to take his body back. However, Xehanort's Heartless still lingered in a weaker form INSIDE Riku's heart. At the end of CoM: Reverse/Rebirth, Riku defeated Xehanort's Heartless again, giving him control and dominance over the darkness. He still wasn't destroyed, though. DUring the explosion of Ansem the Wise's machine in the Castle that Never Was. All Darkness (or most, otherwise he'd be a Prince of Heart lol) in Riku's heart was vanquished. Meaning Xehanort's Heartless is now dead, gone, destroyed, whatever. So he IS dead.

    Xemnas was defeated at the end of KH2 so he's gone as well.

    Xehanort and both his counterparts are GONE. Up until the end of KH2. Until KH3 comes out (or maybe even in Coded) we won't know if Xehanort actually makes a return due to his Heartless and Nobody being destroyed. But since that's in the future.
    Xehanort=dead
    "Ansem"=dead
    Xemnas=dead

    Got it?

    well Ur kinda wrong....Xehanort BECAME a heartless...he didn't just create one and dissappear so Ur wrong on that...and I guess he is kinda dead....but U don't know if Nomura is gonna slap us again with another twist in the story....so everything here is a theory

    No, I was right. Xehanort became a Heartless and a Nobody. A person is made up of three things: Heart, body, and soul. Xehanort's heart became "Ansem", his body and soul became Xemnas. So Xehanort himself was gone and two new "people" were created, in a way.
    It's fact, not theory. Read the end of my post:
    Xehanort is dead. There's no way he can be alive after becoming a Heartless and a Nobody. I already said in either Coded or KH3, he might come back. But from the time before KH1 when he became a Heartless/Nobody up until the end of KH2, Xehanort is not alive as a whole person anymore.

    well i dont think he is dead until the explosion at TWTNW because he took the form of the heartless from what was left in his heart.

    You're talking about Xehanort's Heartless, we're talking about Xehanort himself
    Not literally. Don't you understand the concept behind Heartless and Nobodies? Sora turned into a Shadow Heartless and Roxas
    Xehanort turned into a Heartless and Xemnas.

    Exactly. Ansem the wise (human) has ansem (heartless) Xehanort (nobody)
    I get that Sora (human) has Roxas (nobody) but about the shadow heartless, why is Ansem the heartless still around but sora is not a heartless anymore?

    You're a little mixed up.
    Ansem the Wise does NOT have "Ansem" or Xemnas.

    Ansem the Wise is the old blond guy who disguised himself as DiZ, the man in red bandages. He used to be the ruler of Radiant Gardens.
    Xehanort was Ansem the Wise's apprentice. Together with 5 other apprentices, Xehanort and Ansem the Wise conducted experiments on the heart. Ansem the Wise ordered Xehanort to stop because he decided it was too immoral. Xehanort and the others banished Ansem the Wise into the Realm of NOthingness, where he became DiZ.
    Xehanort and the apprentices gave their hearts to darkness. Each of them became a Heartless AND a Nobody (but the apprentices' Heartless haven't been seen yet)
    Xehanort's Heartless was the main bad guy in KH1. Before Xehanort became a Heartless, he stole Ansem's name. His Heartless kept Ansem's name. That's why you have them mixed up. The bad guy from KH1 is actually called Xehanort's Heartless.
    Xehanort's Nobody became Xemnas.

    Xehanort's Heartless INFLUENCED Riku's heart because he did not have a body of his own. He then took over Riku's body.
    At the end of KH1, Riku took his body back and Xehanort's Heartless was trapped inside Riku's heart. at the end of CoM, Riku finally defeated Xehanort's Heartless but he still had his darkness in his heart. At the end of KH2, Riku finally got rid of it, so Xehanort's HEartlss and Xemnas are both dead.

    Sora isn't a Heartless because Kairi gave his Heartless a body of light made from her (and Donald's and Goofy's) memories. He was a normal person again, but he was INCOMPLETE. HE wasn't a full person until he absorbed Roxas at the beginning of KH2
