I swear there is no benefit to that O.o It amazes me that these countries don't have it already, would the USA/UK release model be that much different to, say, a Swedish console? What on earth could take them 10 months...

Maybe some countries had a problem with Microsoft, or their government wouldn't allow it for some reason. That's just guessing though, since I have no idea. Best I got is it's some kind of reason like why Germany blocks a majority of youtube videos for some reason

I'd imagine they had to forge relationships with local TV providers

This is what I thought also. Some countries don't like us and probably forbid it.

Nah, that's not the reason. All the Scandinavian countries are on there, and none of those really do things like that. My guess is that Microsoft simply wants to focus on the bigger markets in general. If they fill the demand in countries like the US or UK, becoming the market leader, they can easily afford to lose countries like Norway or Denmark.

Not that it's really working, as Sony seems to be the market leaders in the bigger markets too so far.

Lolwut ? Which country does that ? No no, Germany does have heavy censorship policies on youtube, but they block violence and hate speach in general (because of the nazi debacle), not american stuff in particular.

I remember there was indeed a problem regarding the German market back when the Xbone was anounced, because of its always on internet/kinect policies. Germany cares about polution, machines that can only be put to sleep mode short of unplugging the damn thing are banned there. Not sure how much of that still holds water with the new specs.

If memory serves MS had trouble making as many Xbone as they needed to, they probably decided it was best to prioritize a few countries rather than be out of stock everywhere for some reason. Scandinavians countries aside, wouldn' t the countries left in the dark happen to be the ones with the lousiest internet connexions ?

Japan only got the playstation last month, and they are the home of Playstation. Probably microsoft prioritized some countries that they know they would sell the most and are still localizing games and the softwere in the others, not to mention that Xbox one's and Playstation 4's are both sold out, so they clearly couldn't launch the plataform in more countries that they already had.

It was probably just a move to cut down on launch expenses so that the bigger markets would give them as much profit as possible at the time of release.
