WTH does "2 second rule" mean?

    i hear that alot on little kid commercials and cartoons, but what does it mean?!?!?!

    I believe it's called the "5 second Rule" and supposedly, if you pick up a piece of food that fell on the ground before a five second mark, it's safe to eat.

    Mythbusters actually tested this once, I think. When you drop a peice of popcorn (for example), if there are no airborn bacteria and you leave it alone for about 5 minutes, It still would be like if you left it for 5 seconds.

    interesting.......so i DIDN'T have to throw away that hot pocket i dropped on the floor while it was still frozen

    They tested dropping wet and dry foods on dirty floor tiles for four and six seconds. They wanted to see wether or not wet foods pick up more germs than dry foods, and to see if there was a difference between the amount of germs picked up before and after the five second mark. They found that while wet foods pick up more germs, it doesn't mater if you leave a piece of food on the floor for four seconds or six seconds, both times contain the same average of germs.

    most of the time.

    I am agnostic, but thats pretty much like the 5 second rule.
