So, here's the idea. Workshop would be for constructive things like general writing tips, exercises, prompts, posting unfinished stories to get feedback, and stuff like that. Rec Room would be for general discussion of writing topics like narrative theory, themes & symbolism, and so on. I posed the idea to everyone I asked about the other idea, and they all liked it.

Now, these could conceivably be split into their own subsections. Or they could be a single subsec (titled Workshop & Rec Room, obviously) which encompasses pretty much anything that isn't actual writing. I have no preference personally, whichever one the staff finds more desireable/convenient.

Several existing threads could be moved into these sections to start, such as Plums's Variety Bin, and a few staffies and I have already discussed other content to add.

I'm definitely behind this idea yo~

I love seeing tips and prompts and stuff, mostly because they actually motivate me to write, and who doesn't want feedback on stuff? Discussing writing is pretty dope, too, although thinking of all the TVTropes links makes me shudder at how much time I might waste...

I said this in a chat, but there were plans on having one made a while ago, but they never left the ground so to speak b/c it was forgotten about heh. There'd be a need for some content & such, but I know that the current Nook mods & Nova have stated interest in providing for it (and I am planning on fixing up the Variety Bin some more). That said, I'm all for making it at some point ~soon~.

I was actually talking to @deanie weenie about this a while back, at least the part about prompts and such. I think it'd be a great idea. I'd be happy to contribute what I can to the sections. I think it would give the Literate Beans a lot more stuff do as well as the rest of the members. You could do weekly writing prompts, call it Prompt of the Week. The Writer's Nook is in need of more activity and I think this could help.

If you'd like me to have some threads ready, let me know. I can type them up in a document or something and unload 'em overnight while everyone's asleep :v

Just wanted to check the status of this request since it's been dormant for a few days and received fewer posters than my other Nook suggestion. Do we need more members to sign off on this, or is it in the works?

I like this. I think it'd be interesting to see what people have to say on the topics Nova mentioned. On top of that, maybe it'll inspire other threads. I always had an idea for "Novelless Chapters," a place where you can type a chapter of something and see how it stands on its own with no context whatsoever.
