Would You Build Your Own PC?

This isn't completely hypothetical, I'm talking you, as you are now. Do you have the skill, the patience, the desire, the funds, to build your very own computer?
I'm interested to see if I was wrong in my assumption about this

I am slowly gathering funds to build a new desktop as we speak, actually. I mostly have finished quite a bit of research and have the budgeting stage all set beyond that point. Late goal for it to be completed is summer.

 

I can build PCs but what I lack is the funds and the space at the moment. When I build my PC (Which will be after uni) I'm wanting to build it into a desk and customise it. I want to make it personal to myself. Probably gonna be Zelda lol.

 

Only thing stopping me is that I have more important things to spend my money on haha

 

This is a bit of a loaded question.
Are you asking if I have Skill, Patience, Desire AND Funds to do all that? Or are you asking if I have one of the 4?

All. Basically, the prevalence of people who actually build PCs. Not just people who would like to, or who would if money was no object, that sort of thing

Why do it yourself when you can get your mate to do it for free and buy them a drink later on?

That's key. I'm sure almost anybody would LIKE a built computer, but in terms of actually doing it it becomes more of a pain

 

No, only because I'm no expert.

 

Do I have the Skill? Yes
Patience? Yes
Desire? No, I've already made one. Why would I have the desire to make another one?
Funds? No, I currently don't have the money to make another PC

 

But you have in the past. You didn't retroactively not have funds and not have the desire to do it.

 

I could yes. I'm a certified IT repairman but not using any of that skill at all has made me forget quite a bit. I'm sure I could still handle building a computer though. For funds... I have enough to build a moderate computer for my needs but I would not do so now as it would be irresponsible to spend my money on something I do not need.

 

So then which is it? As I am now or as I was?

He's just trying to find the interest and ability of people to build PCs. More a census than a here and now sort of thing.
Then again, looking on the internet for people who build PCs is a pretty fair correlation, so maybe he's just trying to find about KHV members specifically
