I read years ago about "Geek Problems" or something and one was not having any idea how certain words are actually pronounced because you never hear them aloud or use them often. Anybody have any words like this?
I found out a couple of days ago that I've been mispronouncing "Posthumous" all of my life.

Uhhhh, i do have a few things but.... damn I've forgotten. I think how to pronounce Chinese names was one for a while. Also, the letters like é or æ still allude me.

Usually foreign words than come into English use, such as Latin. Recently "a priori", for one.

When I was in middle school, my friend pronounced 'grand prix' as 'grand pricks' and the whole class laughed at her. I still feel sorry for her lol.

There's a word that, whenever I see it, I always read phonetically in my head so I won't say it the way it's spelled. Surprisingly, it's not "colonel" (even though that is equally ridiculous) but I can't remember what it is.
    i laughed
    i'm a grand prix

English not being my mother tongue, all the freaking time. The latest would be "caveat". As for French words it does happen but it' s too rare for me to think of any exemple.

    Subtle.

I used to say subtle but read it as sub-tul. I never made the connection that they were the same word and that I was mispronouncing one until a year or so ago.

Hmm. I can't think of very many at the moment, but occasionally I'll say 'statistics' or 'preposterous' wrong. And when I was little I would say 'pacific' when I was trying to say the word specific.

Can't think of any that I currently have problems with. Though, when I was a kid, I always thought the last 's' in 'Arkansas' was supposed to be pronounced. Then when I learned that it was supposed to be silent, I began questioning why bother putting an 's' at the end.
