Well, this is wonderful. Now we have a drug resistant TB to worry about...with a 67% death rate. The doctors told this idiot who had the disease not to travel, but he had to anyway.

Its just so infuriating. People are willing to risk their health AND others health, FOR WHAT? So they can get to a destination on time or something?:(

    Yeah I know... >_<

Just makes me so mad! I wish they could have stopped him, but they said they didn't have the authority to restrain him from going anywhere.

I think a deadly disease is a good enough reason to cancel your plans.

Whoever this dude was he's like selfish or can't think things through.

Some people need to be SMART, and actually LISTEN to their doctors. They're THERE for a reason!

My God...1.6 million. And this jerk risked a similar epidemic? You'd think people would be more aware of the consequences of their actions in this day and age. It's pitiful.

    I third it!

You'd think people nowadays with super technology and all this other BS would have the brains to know when you have a super bad disease (no matter what the heck it is) to stay home, away from others...just to make sure you don't start another smallpox epidemic. But this proves how careless we can be anymore!

Guys, come on, this kind of selfishness and idiocy can be found in any part of the world. But there are other sides to it as well, don't just assume.

Perhaps the guy HAD to travel, maybe a family member or something was dying? Maybe he had to go on a business trip, and if he didn't he'd be fired. Maybe he didn't understand what the disease could do, and didn't realize what could happen. Maybe his pride got in the way. MAYBE, you guys are blaming someone and getting angry when you shouldn't be. We should be worrying about ways to fix this, and make sure situations like it never happen again. This is exactly what happened with...say Hurricane Katrina. They knew a storm was coming, but they sayted within the city limits anyway, then hundreds of people died and the tradegy began. When it was finally over, all people did was point and blame others, while thousands were left homeless, just sitting there to either be rescued or die waiting.

Luckily in this situation, nobody has died yet. Yes, it was the man's fault, but all of you who are just agreeing and saying he is an idiot are missing the real issue here.

I do think it's kind of dumb that this person would risk infecting such a disease when a person who went through 8+ years of college tells them NOT to travel.

I guess the person was going to his wedding and then to his honeymoon. Probably planned months {maybe years beforehand} but geez 1.6 million people infected?

I'm sure his fiance would have understood if he'd said 'Hey honey, I've got a nigh untreatable strain of TB and my doctor has told me not to travel.'

Well,I don't know anymore.I guess you have a bit of a point. But taking that type of risk is still a little reckless, you know.TB by itself is prettyhazardous.XDR TB on the other hand isn't something you really should risk spreading.

Which is that hes an idiot...what is your point?

Sorry but NO reason is worth traveling and risking an oubreak of this disease... At least, thats how I see it. As far as Katrina goes:
Yes, people treated Katrina in the wrong way. They needed to build up those sandbars. Expense, hell yes. Cheaper than rebuilding the city OVERANDOVER until well learn? F*ck yes. So, yea Katrina was botched. Is that the issue thats at stake here? Unfortunatly its done. We REALLY need to learn from our mistakes. Especially as hurricane season has just started...

Okay guys, he's not an idiot, his docter was. I heard on the news today that he was an attorney on the way to his wedding, he "apologized ernestly to his fellow passengers, and pleads that his docter informed him he was in no way a threat to anyone."

He may be lying, but if he isn't, then this just proved my point. Don't assume.
