I've been working on a new AMV for awhile, a few actually, but every time I try to publish said movies Windows Movie Maker freezes up, and turns grey before it can start to publish. An error message shows up and the thing either shuts off or reboots. I've looked up many fixes to my problem, yet nobody seems to have the answer. This brings me to the Techies of the site to help me. If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful. (Yes, I'm aware WMM sucks. It's what I'm stuck with though, and at least it's easy to navigate.)
what's the error message? I must see this, because it sounds familiar. You're not getting the ! in the triangles are you? Because if not, than I know I've read about this somewhere before when looking up the error message I got
Let me try again and I'll quote it. Huh...that time it didn't say anything. Went gray as soon as I hit Publish, set there for a few seconds, then restarted.
well, if you get the error again, because just in case, it might be what I got before I started doing my videos a minute at a time. WLMM managed to actually have all of the problems from WMM carried over to it, so whatever you're having problems with, I know I did as well. Because I can remember a time when I was trying to save and it kept restarting. It was annoying, but frankly, I'd rather have that than just getting every clip of mine getting the stupid ! in the triangle and it saying the video is corrupted or whatever
Wait , so does movie maker reboot whilst mid-publishing? preferably , try take a screen shot or something with snipping tool of what happens before it shuts off . if it's possible.
Not whilst, right before it can really start. As requested I took a screen shot: Spoiler After that it either shuts off and restarts, or shows an error message saying something like "WWM has encountered a problem and will notify you if it can solved", then restarts.
hmm, I've never had this problem before. I was thinking of something else. My friend has the same version, and it has its fair share of problems. I suppose you could try emailing Microsoft and see what they say. Otherwise, maybe you could try uninstalling that WMM and reinstalling it
I've contemplated doing that, but I'm not sure I know how to reinstall it after uninstalling it...seeing as it was just there when I got the computer. Plus I'd have to get all my video and audio files back into it(not that they're doing me any good as of this moment, I just don't want to uninstall it and it still not be fixed).
well, for the media and audio files, why not just save them to your computer? That's what I do. But for uninstalling, you go to Coontrol Panel>Programs>Programs and Features, then you pick the program and choose uninstall. At least, that's on Windows, I don't know if you have that or Mac. For the installing, here you go but really, it's better that you try something, and know it might or might not work, instead of not doing it and finding out later that is what you need to do
Why thank you Aqua, the download link is what I needed. I have all the files on my computer, it's just dragging them all back onto WMM that'll be annoying, but as you said it's better to try something. I'll hopefully return in a bit with it working~ Okay so I'm convinced WMM is like the MCP and windows paint is Stark... It won't let me uninstall it, it doesn't appear in my uninstall list, won't let me go to it's file location, and if I try to delete it it says it won't. .__.
I believe you can install WMM 2.6 alongside WLMM. But it sounds to me like WLMM is quitting because it doesn't have enough RAM to render the movie. Try doing it without any other programs open.
