Your first time huh? ^^ *purrs* Well not bad. I like the foggy effect. Makes it eerie. X3 Now think of something that would lurk in this area and put it into your perspective if you are going to continue this drawing. If not, then think of something a bit more bigger to draw that might make us go wow. ^^ *purrs* Good luck and not bad.
I enjoy charcoal. Burnt wood has never been put to a better use. Anyhow, the loveliest part of the piece is indeed the effect of the fog and how it literally flows or turns into the ground, however the slight horizontal line beneath the cross appears to assume the fog to be moreover the ground; unless that is of course the intended purpose. The shading on the tree is slightly evident, however I would recommend touching it up in places to give the tree more depth. For your first time with charcoal, however, this piece is quite lovely. You may even expand upon it further with added detail.
