Uhh, well, I'll try and explain some stuff about it

First go to File > Import videos to import videos, which you should have downloaded from here or some other site, and WMM will seperate the video into clips (Be patient with that). You can then manage your collection of clips in folders, and you can copy/paste them, and you can split.merge them. Meaning if the clip youw anna put in your video is too long, make it shorter, or merge them to make them bigger and easier to handle.

To actually make the video, import a mp3 file and then drag it under the storyboard. Then switch from the storyboard into the timeline, and start dragging clips in there and arrange them to your liking, making them fit with the music, etc. Also be sure to go to Set Audio Levels and say Audio from music as the highest, unless you want the people talking in the cutscene clips if you're making an AMV.

You can't have an AMV without effects and/or transitions. ;) Click the "view effects" or "view transitions", see which ones you like, and apply them to the clips =)
For extra effects and transitions, visit www.windowsmoviemakers.net =) They even have a guide to help ya set 'em up =D
