I'm not to fussed about this, I haven't seen amny gamecube games for a while and I've never really shown an interest in them. However, for those who do then I don't think it's a huge deal if they have a Wii or a gamecube, it's no different to the second generation of PS3's aren't compatible with PS2/PS1 games and that has never been a huge obstacle. The technology may have been too expensive to add plus Gamecubes aren't commonly used anyway.

Can you buy gamecube games like you can buy SNES games on the Wii store?

Then I guess I'm never getting rid of my GameCube. Got it for the Christmas of 2004. (: Besides, I was pretty much expecting this.

    <-- Not surprised.

The gamecube is about two generations old now. Besides we've still got our old GC/Wii for those old games.

That really doesn't upset me because I never had a gamecube. I never had any gamecube games either.
I wouldn't care as long as if it is going to be a new wii that it supports Wii games. If not then oh well. I can't buy it anyway because I don't have the room for another new gaming console anyway.

Eventually they were gonna do it anyways. Just like how the DS isn't capable for GBA games anymore

They're still making those? I thought it got replaced with the Dsi and 3DS.

Those are DS's. Hence the name.

Anyways, I have no problem with it not being backwards compatible with GC for 2 reasons.

    1. I don't have any GC games.
    2. I don't plan on getting rid of my Wii any time soon.

they will probably start putting gamecube games on the Wii store once this system is out.

    which would be cool >D

I was expecting this. I never really played Gamecube games anyway. I mean, were they any really outstanding ones? Just keep your old Wii and you'll still be able to play them.

Do they still make Gamecube games either, no.

It's just so you can keep playing them if you want to.

Kind of saw this one coming. Good thing I kept my Gamecube so I can still play my GC discs. Same reason I didn't trade in my DS Lite when I got my XL: backwards compatability.

I hope they don't release any GC titles in the shop...I agree with what another user said about it being a dick move. "Hey, we know you bought this game once, but buy it again!"

Exactly what I was going to bring up. Nintendo isn't "abandoning" the Gamecube like some people accused them of doing for the Gameboy when the DSi had no GBA compatibility. This is simply a case of Nintendo not dwelling on old technology. The Gamecube hasn't been relevant since 2005, so there's no reason for Nintendo to continue to support it. Besides, at least they're not letting old systems be walking zombies like Sony insists on doing.
