Why is it that guys can text whoever the **** they please but girls can only talk to girls or they are the cheating sh!ts?
I mean can it just be said that not every guy wants sex from girls he talks to and not every girl wants to send pictures to every guy she talks to? Please someone just tell me they don't think this way in a relationship so faith in humanity and gender can be restored.

If your partner worries over who you're texting or hanging out with, there's some sort of issue in the relationship. They don't trust you and it's pretty important to figure out why. It might just be in their nature, or because they've been cheated on before, in which case talking about it and assuring them that there's nothing going on would hopefully resolve the problem. A relationship without basic trust and communication skills will probably be fairly short-lived.

    Basically this.

I don't give a damn who my girlfriend talks to as long as I believe she's safe; I have this thing called trust. If I didn't, I wouldn't date her. Simple as that.

I err on the side of jealous quite often but if it was really bothering me -- like I was seriously concerned that something might be going on -- then it's always healthier to bring it up rather than sit and stew, because the latter option will inevitably sink the relationship. It works similarly if you're on the receiving end of the jealousy; it's just something you have to bring up (calmly, ready to understand why they're acting that way, because it can often be a product of insecurity). Again, if you can't communicate then you don't have much of a relationship.

Of course, if there's jealousy, bring it up.

Communication and fairness should really be the groundwork of any relationship.

Huh. In my experience, the guy isn't allowed to communicate with other girls, but the girl can with other guys.

This is the more stereotypical model, yeah. It follows from the assumption that men are insatiable sexual beings, and to play around is only natural, while a woman's sexuality exists only to satisfy that of her partner. It's also why female masturbation is far more taboo than male (comparatively, of course), or why lesbians are so puzzling for society (when they're not presented for the male gaze and consumption).

This actually occurs in any relationship be it male/female, female/female, or male/male. It's jealousy or a lack of trust. I've seen women completely break a guy's heart, move on and find someone else, and then turn around and get mad when the guy starts talking to someone else. It's ridiculous but it happens. Personally, my own understanding of relationships is limited but from what I've seen ... I don't find them all that appealing. I used to believe in true love but over time I've managed to become so jaded that anymore that seems like a childish concept. The best we'll ever get is good enough. Nothing is perfect.

Personal ranting aside, this isn't something only men will do. In a situation like this it is best to confront and resolve the issue. As some have stated previously, this could be due to bad experiences.

Yay for never being in a relationship and never having to deal with the mess of it.

On another note, it's your phone for crying out loud. Text whoever you want, and if someone worries about it because it's not them, they really should grow up. Not the polite way of putting it, but I've never been known for my subtlety

I don't know how someone can have a relationship with someone else and not communicate with them. This is usually the fault of both sides, but it makes me laugh because its like "lets have a relationship, then not". Ya know, considering without communication the whole thing kind of falls apart.

There are complications to communicating with a significant other, especially when one has insecurities That cannot be reassured by simple words or actions.
Your response indicates that you think of this problem as one that comes from high school level relationships. It doesn't. Co dependent personalities struggle with abandonment issues as well as feeling the need to fix the other person. It's not a simple yeah let's do this.

This is probably because the OP pretty much screams "high school".

This specifically is a gigantic issue because you are making assumptions, and on top of that you are just feeding a stereotype that is laughably inaccurate.

Assumptions become hypotheses with a few simple word changes. And then we could go on to follow the whole scientific method to find out if this hypothesis is in fact correct or if it is stereotyped. But who has that kind of time?

Besides, it's not necessarily stereotyping, it could be a generalization of relationships based on past experiences.

Based on past experiences, you don't seem to appreciate complaint threads.

I still think the situation you've been put in by this other person is very unfair.

I still think it's unfair for me and other guys to be generalized, regardless of history.

I still think it's unfair for girls to be demanded to only communicate with other girls.

Fact of the matter is you are grouping A LOT of people together and assuming they all act like "x". That's what bothers me.

Don't get me wrong, I feel for anyone who is being mistreated, and complaining about your situation is fine. But saying something like "all guys" or "all girls" do "x" is ignorant at best. You do not know how everyone in the world acts, and maybe you (or whomever you were referring to) should just look for someone better or work it out with them. Hiding behind "it's not that easy" or "it's complicated" is no more than an excuse. I've gone through **** with my SO and we got through it together, not by making excuses but through hard work.

I have no problem with you or anyone else making complaint threads. However if you are going to be overly unfair (in this case over generalizing something or using harsh stereotypes) expect me to comment about it. If you don't like that, block me.

Makes me happy that my girlfriend gives no fucks about who I do or do not talk to, and vice versa.

Like I said, I share the sentiment, but only if I think she's safe.
