    You people CAN'T be serious?
I mean I understand if you think this a fun game, lots of people have fun playing with ****.
    But come the **** on.

Let's just compare Rebellion in DmC to Rebellion DMC3
    Standard combo - Both (1/1)
    Pause combo - Both (2/2)
    Helm breaker - Both (3/3)
    Stinger - Both (4/4)
    High time - Both (5/5)
    Million/Trillion stab - Both (6/6)
    Drive - Both (7/7)
Air Hike - Both [on all weapons by default in DmC] (8+/8)
Glide - Both [functionally different in DmC, and again, on all weapons by default] (9+/9)

    Swordmaster specific moves (for DMC3)

    Prop shredder - Only DMC3 (9/10)
    Aerial rave - Both (10/11)
    Sword pierce - Only DMC3 (10/12)

    Thrust kick - Only DMC3 (10/13)
    Dive kick - Only DMC3 (10/14)
    Dance macabre - Both (11/15)df

    Crazy dance - Only DMC3 (11/16)
That's already 5 whole moves completly gone. Let's move on to Gunslinger
    Twosome time - Only DMC3 (1/2)
    Wild stomp - Only DMC3 (1/3)
    Rain storm - Both (2/4)
    Ground-starting Rain storm - Only DmC (3/4)
    Charge shot - Both (4/5)
Rapid shot - Only DMC3 [however, the charge shot in DmC ricochets, so for this one, we'll give DmC a half-point out of fairness] (3.5/6)

Now let's move on to parrying.
    Block - Only DMC3 [ouch] (0/1)
Just block - Both [Sort of. In DmC, properly timing a strike with an enemy's will "parry" it, leaving them open. This doesn't modify your damage or fill any gauges, it just gives you a free hit. It can also open up new opportunities with bosses. One again, DmC will receive a half-point for half-ass.] (0.5/2)
    Release - Only DMC3 (0.5/3)
    Just release - Only DMC3 (0.5/4)
Air block - Both [Again, sort of. Same parry rules from before apply. Half-point.] (1/5)
    Air release - Only DMC3 (1/6)
    Ultimate - Only DMC3 (1/7)

And finally the oddjobs like Quicksilver and whatnot
    Quicksilver:

Time lag - Both [Another "sort of, I don't know" for DmC. Activating your devil trigger in DmC freezes enemies in place, sends them airborne, and makes you faster and stronger. This is very much like Quicksilver in its use, but it's only just barely comparable. Whatever. A late christmas gift for Ninja Theory.] (1/1)

    Doppelganger:

After-image - Both [For a price. Doppelganger IS in DmC, and it might be even MORE complex. But we have no real idea, because it's DL-****ing-C. In DmC, Vergil has no Devil Trigger, and instead has a "Doppelganger gauge" that might be the same, or totally different. Because of a stingy lack of information (and the taste of Capcom balls on our tongues) we will refrain from altering the tallys at this time.] (Zanzibar/Xanadu)

    Devil Trigger:

Needs no explanation. Fight, kill, maim, bleed, you build up gauge. Activate it, turn into buster-badass for a few moments, repeat. It traditionally adds a move, somewhere in your list. DmC's does not. In fact, it doesn't affect you at ALL, save for your damage, speed and making everything look like the cover for Batman: Arkham City. Half-assed, half-point. (1.5/2)

Honeslty. It's AMAZING just how much the lack of styles and lock on capabilities hinder this game. The game is missing a whooping 13 moves from a game that came out 7 years ago. DmC actually uses MORE BUTTONS then any other DmC game and still manages to be less depth then every other Devil May Cry. AND THIS IS JUST FOR ONE WEAPON! I'm sure if we could compare the two other weapons he get's in this game the difference would be phenomenal.

Not to mention the story is absolutely abysmall.
This wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't taking itself so seriously.
    BUT IT DOES
IT TAKES ITSELF SO DAMN SERIOUSLY IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY
It's like the first cutscene has him changing in a radical and crazy fashion and the game's all like "HEY GUYS! LOOK HOW CRAZY THIS GUY IS! HE'S TOTALLY LIKE THE OLD DANTE!"
And then a few cutscenes later it's like "NO! THAT CUTSCENE WASN'T SUPPOSE TO BE CRAZY! IT WAS SERIOUS! THIS IS A SERIOUS STORY! WE AT NINJA THEORY ARE SERIOUS PEOPLE WITH SERIOUSLY GOOD AND TALENTED WRITERS!"

Atleast with the previous Devil may Cry games the game was always tounge in cheek. There were a few serious moments but overall you would never go a few cutscenes without Dante doing something to remind you that this is a ****ing video game about a demon boy using a motorycycle to kill demons without actually sitting on the motorcycle.
This game GENUINELY believes that it's telling a good story.

And of course the combat is slow, Dante looks like he can barely hold Rebellion in his hand every time he swings it
Enemies literally wait for you while you're in the air knocking some guy into oblivion
The devil bringer angel pull is and has always been a lame mechanic, it always consist of...
    WAIL ON ENEMY
Too far? PULL HIM BACK IN
    rince and repeat.
    You have way
    way
    way
waaaaaaaaaaaay too much air time that literally allows you to single out enemies just by using your launcher and jumping and knocking them for a billion hours.
Speaking of launchers, you have two for some dumb ass reason. One button one and Devil Trigger which knocks everyone up in the air for you.

There's no lock on, that should SPEAK FOR IT'S ****ING SELF!
And it's not like it's Ninja Gaiden where there's a billion ****ers coming at you all at once in which case a lock on would be a hinderence.
This is a game where no more the 5 enemies appear on the ****ing screen at once.
IN A GAME SERIES WHERE ONE OF THE MECHANICS WAS THAT LOCKING ON OPENED UP NEW MOVIES INSTEAD OF SLAMMING EVERY SINGLE ****ING MOVE INTO ONE CONTROLLER SCHEME!
    And last but not least
    THERE'S TWO
    BUTTONS
    DEDICATED
    TO THE EXACT
    SAME
THING! BY ALL MEANS YOU CAN ENJOY THE GAME BUT EATING SHIT AND ENJOYING IT DOES NOT MAKE THE SHIT ANY LESS ******

I am buying this game on a steam sale, or borrowing it from a friend if they buy it.
This hate is likely going to actually make me like it. I naturally seem to like the underdogs. Then again I could be proven very wrong.

Personally from these videos I really like the voice acting, especially Dante.
And people who complain about the writing, I never liked Enslaved's dialogue or characters all that much and that was suppose to be highly regarded.
And this problem with Dante being overly aggressive? He's a demon descendant and hunter of them, kills his own brother and has never really cared for human life ever. Are you surprised his re invention plays on this type of thing more? Not to mention the whole teen angst accuracy.

Alright, looking back I did not mean for this thread to become so ridiculous. I'm really not bothered by anyone buying or playing the new DmC, and I meant no ill will to anybody. I just enjoy bitching about and mocking things I dislike, and doing that in an open forum was a bad idea.

Also, I apologize to those who thought I was acting like a belligerent asshole (which I was). I'd really like to not lose friends or have people think negatively of me over such a stupid thread. SO YEAH. I'M SORRY EVERYONE. SHOW'S OVER. THREAD LOCK PLEASE.
