Chain of Memories Why Riku and Mickey wear the cloaks.

cool ive always wondered why but i have another question now...
Why do Kairi, Sora, and Riku in KH 1 want to build a raft and go away form the island? Isn't there a island near that they live on? They just go to the other to play? or maybe they do live there? Idk for sure.

If you're that curious, go ahead and start a new thread because talking off topic gets threads locked most of the time. But I'd say because they want to go beyond the horizon.

Back on topic:

He didn't specifically say that the cloaks were made of nothingness, but I'll agree on the magic point.

 

I don't now why they use the cloaks but they're cool and Riku with that bandage on his eyes is the BEST!!!

 

That bandage on his eyes hides the darkness from himself, it also allows him to lie about who he really is.

Apparently, he cannot lie as his eyes would give him away.

 

Can he see through them or does he swing his weapon blindly (thats sounds kewl)

 

The game never said anything on the subject... but we can assume that he is just that awesome that he can fight blind.

Perhaps he see's through Darkness or semething like that.

Also, in CoM it mentions Riku's strong sense of smell in several scenes (he always mentions smelling his oponents before they can be scene)... perhaps its his Riku sense...

 

Too lazy to make quotes but for those of you wondering about Riku and Roxas fighting Heartless in Deep Dive, I pretty sure Roxas was fighting as a mission to get hearts for Kingdom Hearts and Riku was fighting so he wouldn't have to worry about them while going after Roxas.

 

Unfortunately, that's not possible. The whole Riku vs. Roxas scene happened AFTER Roxas ran away from the Organization. In other words, Roxas wasn't working for the Organization at the time.

And how'd the heck did we get from cloaks to this?! :blink:

 

Oh yeah... Well that throws it off a lot. That point came up because people were wondering why they were fighting them If they were kept hidden from the darkness, one of the few direct links we have in this thread.

 

Well, in that case...

The cloaks were to prevent other Nobodies from attacking. That doesn't mean that they were safe from Heartless. The Heartless would leave Nobodies alone unless they were attacked. However, they would've attacked Riku, Roxas or Mickey because the Heartless still sensed their hearts, cloak or no cloak.

 

I would say its more likely that he trained himself for a year prior to taking on Roxas in that match.

So, Chuck Norris could have helped him.

Ok... about Mickey... so he could not hide from Org XIII visually because he looked so different, and if the cloak masked his smell, how come Pluto could track him so well?

 

I think Tetsuya Nomura didn't count on smart fans trying to figure it out XD​

 

The cloak masked his smell from Nobodies. For everyone else, he smelled just fine. (Maybe a whiff of Cheeze Whiz and a hint of pepper jack sauce...)

 

Hmm... intersting. I bet that is how mickey smells...

But I don't think nobody noses are different than ours. They do have the same bodies afterall.

 

Maybe all of the nobodies's smelling power went to Zexion >.>
He does have an extremely powerful nose after all...​

 

Does the game actually say that? I remember he smelled Malificent and Ansem's sent on Riku, but did it say he had a stronger scent than everyone else?

I should rephrase what I said. I meant that regular dogs have a better sense of smell than humanoids. I say "regular" because I don't want you saying "Then how come Goofy didn't smell him?" Pluto's a regular dog. So he's a damn good tracker.

And if what you said is true, then lesser Nobodies can't smell anyone with a heart protected by the cloak.

 

But... DiZ said it would cover up thier smell... not the smell of thier heart.

So I imagine it would cover up everything.

 

And if that were true, then Nobodies wouldn't have been able to track Roxas when he ran off.

 

They could track him by sight... DiZ implied that ears could not be hidden, so not wearing your hood would show you too wouldn't it?
