Okay, so I'm going to apologize right now for this horrible question. I'm sure the answer is something obvious that has already been discussed, but it's been driving me crazy so here we go:

Why is there so much English in a Japanese game?
This includes many games other than Final Mix; there will always been words like "Menu" or "New Game / Continue" that are predominantly in English. It looks almost like the game was originally in English and translated to Japanese, with a bunch of unnecessary things lieft untranslated. This obviously isn't the case, so this has always baffled me.

So, yep. That's my horrible n00bish question. *hides in a corner to avoid getting shot*

Correct me if im wrong. But I heard from someone, that Japanese people learn a lot of english. So they put english subs sometimes.... to make it cool. I dunno. Im not completely sure. But I think thats the reason.

because they didnt want to go through the trouble of redoing everything again. Everything was laid out for them, voice overs, menu bars, etc. all they needed to do was translate a minimum amount and add subtitles.

Okay, I see. That makes sense, thanks. :)

It just seems kind of unfair to a Japanese person who doesn't speak English... but I guess that's a rarity over there. I live in Canada where we learn French, but hardly anybody is bilingual because they don't really teach it right. So if a game came out half-English/half-French, it really wouldn't go over well.

So I was assuiming it was sort of the same thing... but now that I think about it, I guess it's not. If that even makes any sense, haha.

    sry that's not right.

anywyas, i guess it just looks and sounds better. i noticed all my imported games from Japan have an English title with New Game, Load, and Option all written in English.

That's why I was so confused!
I though about the Disney influence before, but all the other games from Japan I've seen have the same thing as this one, and they aren't all made by Disney.

But I guess the Disney-ness plus the everybody-speaking-english-ness combined answers my question.
