http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QRO3gKj3qw There's something about Chrome OS that really rubs me the wrong way, and I'm not entirely sure why. It's probably because of the complete lack of a file-system, and the complete reliance on Google, the company known for hoarding personal data. It'll probably be fine, provided you go along with it, and let Google take care of everything, but the minute you try to do something else, it'll get difficult, which is what bothers me.
I agree, the Chrome OS is weird to me too. I suppose it's good for the netbook-type people, "I just want a basic internet and nothing else," but the information not being stored on your hard drive really bothers me. Even if you've not got necessarily illegal stuff saved, there's a whole slew of personal information that I'm sure you'd rather not share. If I did ever use it, I'd take a good long look at the TOS. That being said, the screens I've seen look pretty nice... but I can't see it ever replacing Windows for what the majority of people use.
That's the mentality Google is hoping to latch onto. What's your opinion of Google Docs, Gmail and the rest of the Google apps? If you like all of that, then Chrome OS is probably for you. :/
