Emos are wierd... period. They want to die, but they don't, and we have 13 yr olds cutting themselves, hell even younger; if you want to die, get come bleach, kool-aid, and drink it. Course I don't hate them, they just..... them...

There's nothing wrong with people who are emo. It's a kind of music, anyway, and just because you like that particular genre of music doesn't mean that you're emo...and just because your hair is naturally dark doesn't mean you cut yourself. It's just a huge stereotype, and anybody who wears dark colors, has dark hair, or is quiet gets thrown into it. It's stupid and silly, really, and I think people ought to stop making such a big deal out of it. It's how people are, and people need to be more tolerant.

There's nothing wrong with listening to 'depressing' music or darker music etc. Darker tones of life are also part of life. Emos aren't goths. They are separate. Goths don't hate life. The typical stereotypical 'movie, novel' goth might but most people who can connect themselves to goth just tend to like to explore the other side of life and spirituality etc. Just because someone listens to what is coined as 'emo' music, dyes their hair dark shades, wears black clothing etc doesn't make the person an emo. I listen to 'sad songs' because sadness is a part of life. An emo would be more defined as a person that is only listening to the sadness and depression of life and nothing more. It is their focus.

I wouldn't dislike emos if it wasn't for the fact that they did not just harm themselves when they do horrible things for attention, but they also bring others around them into despair and don't even care. How many people do you think cry, yell and more because of someone who sits there and gripes about life all of the time, complains that life isn't fair and it's so bad, and then slices into him/herself? Also these people can be hostile to others because they don't care what they think. How many parents do you think fear when their children are making stupid tattoos with razors on their bodies or cut themselves and when they try to help are turned away and told it's just a state of their being and they can't help it so leave them alone? How many good friends want to commit suicide themselves after an emo hurts them really bad by repeatedly saying they don't understand? How many boy/girlfriends suffer because of an emo that just uses them or treats them as their salvation and won't let them breathe or live without feeling guilt every time an emo is not getting what they want out of the person?

So when people are getting defensive over why some people hate emos, maybe you should understand that many of us with turmoil in our own lives have been 'victims' to emos and their desires to keep saying they hate life, they would end it if they could, they will, they won't, etc. Everyone gets depressed, frustrated, anxious and angry, but emos stay in that state and depression is a selfish state where the only one a person will think about is just that person. If the emo actually sees other people suffering because of him/her and cares, they obsess and say they (the emos) are horrible people now and should die...so you see, it's a vicious no win situation until someone that is actually a serious emo gets out of the state and wants to make the change and actually believes he/she can do it. Other people who can see there's nothing so wrong with that person other than they are facing the trials every other person has to face and failing don't need the strife. If emos just suffered on their own and would stop crying out for attention, dragging others into their problems, gluing onto others for attention, screaming when they don't get it the way they want it etc, then it would be so easy to say to let them live and let them be. People do have a right to be angry at what these individuals do. I don't hate emos but I sure understand why some people do after having experienced enough problems with them. I let them be as I can but I certainly am not letting them spread their disease to me or others if I can help it.

ok everyone shut up about this topic.

emo=made up word for retarted people that wanted to start a trend.

now let me tell you this.
    cutting is such a struggle.
    i know how it feels,
    what it feels like,
    and let me tell you.
when you cut and you really do it because of how you feel in the moment of a horrible situation..
its like its not even you.
its like you look at your arm and your just thinking..

wow i have a sharp object lets see wht it will do..

im telling you that it feels really scary.
but people do it because the body makes you feel better after getting hurt it releases somthing called "endorfins" (dont know how to spell it)
anyway people get addicted to that feeling.
thank god i didnt continue it.
and my friend stoped me before i did serious damage.

but you have to understand emo is just a sterotype.
and yes there is some people that have tough lives.
    like me.
so stop saying that we real people with REAL problems are EMOS.

to be honest, i dont hate emo's. I don't care about them. If they want to cut their wrists and cry for attention then let them. Its the only way they'll stop.

I am glad you stopped cutting yourself and are doing better. I can see what you mean when you say it releases endorphins to try to get the focus of the mind elsewhere too and to help change a mood or get out of things. I did not so much mean to criticize as I wanted to bring up the point that when people say they can ignore it, it's very hard to when a friend or family member you love is hurting themselves and that is why many people get frustrated and it can turn to hate. My apologies for offending if I have. Thank you for posting that and it was very meaningful to me to hear.

If you have to resort to hurting yourself to get pleasure, you need to get some psychiatric help. The way I release my anger or such is by talking about it to friends and family, or they aren't around I go to the shooting range with my shotgun... :D

    Oh gawd, shotgun XD
If I have to do it, I write a lot like poetry and stuff. I mean...well they end up emoish lol but it makes me feel better. Or I sing. Or I draw. It's better than my old habits....
Aw sick...I just realized that I started that habit before I even turned 13, so I started when I was 12 (October tooo....December I think) O.o
I do wonder...if emo is a form of music...and if music can help express yourself, shouldn't that be enough?

Emo poems are cool, emo is a form of music (which sucks), music can express yourself.

Emo = short for emotional, a title that was meant to show that the music had emotion. The only flaw however, was that all music is inspired by emotion in some form, so instead a movement towards more depressing themes and broken homed kids was formed.

Because 80% of them aren't really "emo" simply attention whores. The other 20% won't shut up about how life sucks.

I dislike emo's only because some really cherry people have every reason to become emo, but they don't! Some emo people are mopy, and others are kust plain unsocial because of some unknown reason!

Aside from posers and such on the internet, who has actually had an "emo" come and sit down next to them and go "Look at me Look at me, life is pain, I can't handle it anymore"?
