Country is the heart of music and everyone bashes it.. but they listen to RAP! Rap is a bunch of repetitive words spoken while country tells a story. can people tell me why they hate it?
People hate country for the same reason they hate rap or any other genre. Its just not their type of music.
lulk. Here is country music's story: My woman left me My dog died I drank some beer at a bar/rodeo/party My woman left me Oh and... my woman left me. ~~~ I don't know what everyone else thinks, but personally I find country music to be really boring and depressing.
That's plain ignorant. Rap and country, as well as most forms of music have the ability to tell a story. And both genres have artists that make use of that ability. It's usually incorrect to say "X is this while Y is only that" when you don't listen to both enough to really know. As far as your question goes, most people who dislike country just don't think it's their cup of tea. That explanation might not fit the bill entirely though; there may be an additional reason. Country suffers from the prejudice that it's old-fashioned, and young people often seem to shun it because of that. When you ask whether they like country they might shake their heads without knowing what they dislike.
This^ I went from hating to barely tolerating it because I had to listen to it every weekend at work for karaoke. I now know all the words to a bunch of country songs I hate. You do realize you just contradicted yourself? Before asking why people bash your choice of music, try NOT bashing theirs. I know many rap songs that tell a story. In my opinion, rap is a whole lot better than country. The majority of it isn't depressing, it's easier to dance to, it's evolved over time (although most of it for the worse, take a dose of Element 5) and it might just be the fact that I'm a city boy.
All genres of music have something that everyone with an open mind can appreciate. For me, I like country songs that use violins and fiddles and that sort. But what I usually don't like about country is the weird whiney pitches that the singers' voices tend to make. I also find country songs to be repetitive and somewhat boring, but the same thing can be said about any genre of music. It just depends on your tastes in music. Obviously a lot of people like country music if there are Country Music Awards.
To me, most country sound the same and go along the lines of, as Jelly said: While Rap, even though I'm not a fan of it, has a certain beat to it that makes it enjoyable. I guess everyone has their different tastes in almost everything :P
I dislike country not because it old fashion or anything hell i listen to some elvis and classic rock bands I like the beat it soothing and from living iin the south i should probably like it more The thing is i don't like the so called "storys" it tells "You think my tractors sexy?" "My son said sh*t" "Back seat of his car" Heres an exerpt from the Country song Boot scootin boogie "Out in the country past the city limits sign Well there's a honky tonk near the county line The joint starts jumpin everynight when the sun goes down They got whiskey women music & smoke It's where all the cowboys go to boot scootin' boogie" Now first I really dislike how a lot of songs say this They got whiskey women music & smoke I think really any song that says something about a women that isn't "I love her" "I hate you (sometimes if its a break up song)" or "I need you" or even "I miss you" Shouldn't be played its mean to women. This is why i listen to Rock hard rock metal heavy metal and punk Not country not rap
I like anything with a good beat or a good story. Country's not one of my favorites in particular, but I know I don't hate it because I love it when its spirit is carried over to other genres. For instance, Primus. But country, like anything else in the frikken universe, is represented by the worst of its kind. You have to dig deeper to find the cool stuff. Some people just aren't willing to dig. That's their prerogative. Now, if somebody's going to talk crap about the whole genre after just hearing a few bad songs from it (which, I'm guessing, is your take on rap), it's anyone else's prerogative to punch them in the stomach. There really is no bad music. Just bad examples of music.
Looks like the ignorance on this site has returned. All I have to say is: Country and Rap are both genres of music...and both lead to the same conclusion...they tell a story...you make it sound like Country is the only genre that tells a story. I'll leave the rest to Ghetto.
Because Country sucks. Kidding. To me, the only Country music is Cash. B| In all honesty, I strongly dislike most Country...it just...annoys me. Not only because of the style but because I don't like the guitarists in Country(they tend to be..well, not that great in my point of view). It's also the reason why I usually stay away from Rap. No guitar. ;~; Rap is alright when it isn't all about, "I'm rich and I'm a player. Look at me I've got drugs. I'm badass and can take a bullet." Or something like, "I'm gangster. I'm all ghetto and stuff." I know not all rap is like that but the lyrics will piss me off if they're generally like that. There's a difference between good rap and the artist trying to make himself seem "awesome". Still...In my opinion, Rock>>>>>>>>>Rap>Country. EDIT: I realized that I didn't talk that much about Country. Oh well.
The main problem country has is that it is hurt by the media stereotype of "I ****ed my tractor" pop-country, much the same way as hip hop has the media stereotype of "I ****ed my *****es and hoes" and metal has the media stereotype of screaming Norwegian Satanists, however, unlike metal and hip hop, it is comparitively harder to dig out the good stuff outside of the classic legends of Charlie Daniels and Johnny Cash.
My favorite type of music is Japanese Rock. But does it make me a bad person because my favorite isn't country...no. Case closed
