Ok I am SURE that I did not imagine this.
There was a trailer or commercial for kingdom hearts 2 that came out before the game came out in which at the VERY end showed a camera view from inside the Keyhole in the secret place on Destiny Islands and Sora was slowly walking towards it with the keyblade then the screen faded out and you could hear a locking noise like he locked the keyhole.
I know that a large amount of the scenes in the original trailers werent in the final release, but could someone please try to find video of this trailer.

I found it disappointing when I got the game that he didnt lock the Keyhole because that was one of the things I was looking forward to... :(

But why do you think that they cut this from the final release?
Maybe because they thought putting something like that in the game would end the series too quickly?...

It wasn't a KHII trailer exactly, so that would be why it wasn't in Kingdom Hearts, or that it isnt in the cutscenes. As for finding it, try youtube or gametrailers.

Well IIRC, what he did at the end of KH1 locked every world's heart from the heartless. Instead, the heartless just attack people now.

It was probably aired at a convention of some sort just as a promotion for the game. Beta trailers or beta anythings are very, very early versions of something.

This one in particular features the characters we know, though they look slightly different, for example Sora's hair is lighter and he's a bit tanner, Riku's eyes are blue, Kairi looks like a man, Donald and Goofy are in their original Disney outfits.

It has scenes that were abandoned, like Riku standing before a destroyed Destiny Islands and Sora going to attack him, Riku on the clock tower in Neverland, Kairi huddled up on the docks, Kairi talks to Sora on the docks during the daytime, and Sora locking Destiny Island's keyhole. It also had footage of Sora running around in Disney Castle, which was not included in Kingdom Hearts 1.

A lot of people say that it suggests a much different and darker storyline to the game, but personally the only changes I can see is some sort of emotional thing going on with Kairi, and Riku becoming more of a villain. There are some quotes, too, but I can see how they translated into the final product. It's all up to speculation, though. The early logo at the end is pretty funny.

Here's a link to it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ori-1zhIgcY
And just for fun, here's a Beta trailer of KH2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQetrxtHyaI

Meh the beta logo wasn't that ugly IMO.
But I did like the quote Riku said...
"That's right Sora. Your body. Your soul. They're all going to disappear!"
    OMG EPIC
Thats probably the ONLY reference to the soul in anything KH1 related that I can think of........
And technically Soras body and soul would be his nobody....

It's called a Beta trailer. Means they made it before they had everything exactly the way they wanted. Naturally things would get cut out or changed.

It's like a test to see if the general storyline draws people in. If the audience likes the Beta trailer, then they work harder on the real thing. If the audience doesn't, then they probably wouldn't make it and be grateful they didn't waste time and money.

    The trailers are amazing.
I wonder what we will look back on as different in the KHIII beta trailer compared to the actual game? I hope lots of stuff, it's always cool to see scenes that were never there before.

Yeah, if they make a KH3. They're still deciding on that... but I don't really see where KH3 could go. I mean, Sora and the others already pretty much had their "Happily Ever After" at the end of KH2.

The message in the bottle kind of leaves it open-ended, though. I suppose it could go either way, but I get the feeling that Sora's story isn't quite over.

Well I think they're definitely going to make Kh3 for 3 reasons.
    1. Kingdom Hearts has alot of paying fans (duh). And many of these fans are expecting a sequel.
    2. As Misty said the cliffhanger at the end of KH2 is probably the biggest reason.
    3. There still needs to be a soul-based enemy
