Why Did Jesus Die?

I'm an Athiest Jew and I also wanted to open up the door to any sort of disscusion relating to the topic.

And what if he was? What would you have done? He is perfectly entitled to his opinion, and anyway the Jewish faith does reject Jesus as the Messiah, does it not?

 

Exactly. However, there are ogranization such as Jews for Jesus, which do accept Jesus as the Messiah, but it's a bunch of BS in my opinion. The whole idea of Christianity is taking the Torah and adding their stories of Jesus, otherwise known as The New Testament. So they accept the New Testament and Jesus, so I consider them Chrisitans, no matter what they call themselves.

Jews For Jesus. The main (and possibly only important difference [correct me if I am wrong]) between Judaism and Christianity is the taking of Jesus as the Messiah. Judaism doesn't, Christianity does (and added the New Testament to that effect).

Jesus died because all humans die, fact of life and of the universe in fact. Law of Entropy and all that.

 

Yeah, that's the differnce. And yet there are cults like Jews for Jesus...
It's absolutely mind boggleing how people can smear religion like that...

Jesus wasn't even born on Christmas (Giftmas for the secular holiday, or even Mithras Day if you are so inclined). The 25 of December was only used to help the Roman people get used to it so that they could be more easily controlled.

 

He was actually born in the Spring, I believe. About a month before Easter.

 

Well god let jesus die to save us from the eternity in hell from our sins.

Jesus died because he was foolish enough to believe a fiction of his own imagination.His belief in god readyed himself for death.His legacy seems to be crumbling to this day, just fading into the background where it belongs.
