I would have to say that Aeris was my favorite, mostly because of how important she was to the plot.

I think I actually got some tears in my eyes when Sephiroth killed her during my first playthrough of the game.

To this day, I still don't comprehend why she was killed.

I love Rufus. And I don't even know why, I just love him. Even on the wheelchair he's still a boss xD (Like a boss!)

Beside him I love Zack and Aerith. They're plot was so sad. I remember crying at the end of Crisis Core, despite the fact I knew what's going to happend. And I didn't cry during the moment when Sephiroth killed Aerith only because this scene was spoiled to me earlier. And I'm still angry about that. I like Yuffie too and Reno&Rude duo always will make my day.

I think she was killed, so she could finally find a peace with Zack. You know sad end of the sad, but beautiful love.

If you're going to bump a thread this old, please add more to your post than just listing character names. Give reasons, stuff like that.

Anyway, my favorite's always been Tifa. One of the strongest female characters in the franchise imo, and I really hate how most people like her because of her physical appearance. Of all the characters in the game she very well may be the mentally strongest.
Second is Red XIII/Nanaki because he is adorable and the scene with him finding out about Seto was one of the more touching parts of the game. He's also another character that has more depth to him than most give credit for; also possibly the most depressing (next to Vincent) because he knows right from the start he'll outlive all his friends.

And I actually really don't like the character of Aerith at all in VII. She was much better in Crisis Core but agh, VII was just unbearable.
The reason why she was killed was because she was the only one that could use the Holy Materia to stop Sephiroth and Meteor. I thought that was pretty clear from the plot. >>

...Well she is very atractive... and she does looks more like a real person in terms of hair, eyes size, and... *shot* But i can understand what you mean there. I do like how she is very strong not only mentally, but physically. She also does have a very motherly side about her, especially towards Marlene. (and Cloud)

I must say, my favorites would last forever... So i suppose i shall list my favorite protagonist and antagonist in all FFVII games and videos if you don't mind.

    Before Crisis:
Protagonist- Although i have never played this game, (for obvious reasons) my favorite Protagonist would have to be Rod. I really like his hair style, and he seems to be really BA. Second would have to be Two Guns. His hairstyle is also very rad.

Antagonist- my favorite "antagonist" would have to be Elfe. I love the way she looks, and the design of her uniform is really well done. Nomura sure did make a cool uniform.

    Crisis Core:
Protagonist- Definitely Zack, I really loved how they changed his hair style in the middle of the game to show growth and time, and it really worked. Second would have to be Angeal. I love the origin of the Bustersword and how he (and Zack) would put it up to their forehead and "say a prayer of honor". If they ever make a FFVII remake, i hope they integrate that somewhat often for Cloud, since they did have him do it at the end of CC.

Antagonist- Who else but Genesis! Clearly he is really rich with a background story for only being in a secret clip in Dirge. I love his outfit, and ALL of his quirks, especially the LOVELESS quotes! They where amazing!

    FFVII:
Protagonist- Vincent. I love the way he looks and acts, and i must say was one great marksman in the world of FF.

Antagonist- ... uhhhh... Sephiroth. He really is the only one. But i do like his motif for existance, seems really unique compaired to other bad guys.

    Advent Children:
Protagonist- ... Vincent. However i did like everyone's new clothing. (but vincent's was the same...)

Antagonist- I suppose Kadaj. He was hip in a innocently evil way.

    Dirge of Cerberus:
    Protagonist- ... ... Vincent...

Antagontist- Wiess. I love how they pronounce it in a German way, the 'w' is a 'v'. Also his "gunblades" are of really interesting design.

Cid( for being a Dragoon, the oldest in the group, and for cursing in every other sentence), Vincent ( for the transformations and the dark past) , and Zack who in my opinion was more of a hero than Cloud.

Zack and Cloud. I love Zack because he hold honor above all else as a SOLDIER. Loved him in Crisis Core, and his many squat-offs! I also liked Cloud, hes okay in FF7, but I loved him in Crisis Core. He always looked up to Zack, and looked to Zack as his friend. He starts as a shy and innocent Infantryman ro a tainted and dark outcast. What's not to love!

In FF7, I loved the dynamic duo of Reno and Rude. They were ultimately hilarious in the film as Reno tried to act cool, and Rude took out another pair of shades to replace the other. I love how they acted as Turks throughout the games and the movie.

Aerith, the little troll. I respect how she grew up in the slums, and navigated it despite the inherent risks it posed to her person. Cloud's woman friend is picked up by Don Corneo? That's alright, let's milk the situation for all it's worth; a fine opportunity to tease Cloud: time to play dress up! She doesn't care, she giggles in the face of adversity. Fucks given? None. Hard not to like her.

I like Cloud for becoming a figure worthy to aspire to, emerging from a shy cocoon so to speak. He may have been a fraud at the beginning of the game, but nigh the end he was a respectable first class (if not in title than in strength alone). Unfortunately newer variations of the character have sort of diluted his achievements, Advent Children for example pretty much undid previous character development. Lost self-assuredness, bravery...

I suppose we don't speak of Advent Children in terms of canon though.

    Red XIII as well.
