Television Who's your favorite pony or ponies?

I generally like all the ponies, but to pick out my favorite ones, i'd have to say:

• Rainbow Dash- She's awesome. Her personality is very intriguing to me.
• Trixie- She seems like she could have been a better pony if she had made a few different choices.
• Princess Luna- I feel kind of bad that she doesn't get as much attention simply because she brings the night.
• Snowdrop- There's no way you couldn't love Snowdrop.

It was actually hard picking these ones out. There aren't many of the characters from the show who I don't like. So, do you have a preferred pony?

I like three different ponies:
1) Pinkie Pie - whats not to love about her? especially with all the little quirks she does
2) Doctor Whooves - its the Doctor, come on!
3) Rainbow Dash - so full of herself, hard not to like her

 

Twilight Sparkle, of course.

But then Season 3 happened...

So Pinkie Pie!

 

This is a specific question directed towards the series. The other is for news and general discussion.

Also, we match up pony wise ^^ Princess Luna was going to be on my list, but I didn't want to name too many. Sweetie Belle is totally cute. As for the villain, Queen Chrysalis . . . I just feel bad for her. I don't have much feeling for discord.

Also, I'm not so sure that Snowdrop is an original character. I'm pretty sure they used old characters from the earlier generations of my little pony. Same with Primrose and a few other ponies that appear in the Silly Filly Fan Episode, "Snowdrop." They only adjusted the designs to match Friendship is Magic. So not necessarily an OC, more of a "Reused Character."

 

Can each of you give me an explanation of why you love mlp so much? I just don't get what's so good about it.

 

I don't see why it should matter, but I'll oblige anyway:

I like it because it feels like a cartoon from my childhood. It was developed for TV by Lauren Faust, the incredible mind behind Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The PowerPuff Girls. Cartoons nowadays don't carry the same messages that those shows did, which taught you to appreciate everyone no matter what because they were special in their own way. Cartoons from past 2002 are mostly senseless violence or just plain, unfunny, stupid, simple-minded comedy. My Little Pony shows that friendship is all anyone really needs, because no matter what, your true friends will always stick by you, no matter who you are or how much you change.

I agree. I also love the style they use for the show. It's completely different from the original My Little Pony. It's also chock full of hilarious references, subtle mind you, to certain things in pop-culture. This, i'm sure, is intended for the parents who watch the show with they're children. Or maybe kids have started picking up those references now, i'm not sure. So it's not only the design that is fantastic, it's the story plot, and the lessons that the show gives off. When a show can break me down and make me cry, something is being done right. And I also agree, it's nice to get some relief from the idiotic stuff they put on TV.

 

I definitely agree with this, but I also really love the style of comedy they use, it, unlike other shows, actually make me laugh, even if I've seen it 10 times already. Its just little quirks that are in the show that really make it. Also the fan stuff is amazing, thats actually how I got into the show

 

I agree with that also but since this is my first post here I will also answer the main question.
Mane six: Applejack (She is a kind pony who tries to help everyone in her honest ways)
Princess: Luna ( Why wouldn't I pick her?)
Cmc: Scooterlou ( She seems to have more depth in her character than the others)
Villian: Discord ( There is no sense in him at all and I like that)
Background: Cheerlie ( They had the cmc sing about her and I like that song)
OC: Snowdrop (Do I even have to say why?)

 

One thing I don't understand is why Discord isn't as appreciated by those on this forum, I mean, apart from me, Oda and the Hero of Time, I don't see anyone saying they like him.

 

Aside from you, Oda, and HoT, there was a total of two other people to reply to this thread, not including me. There's nothing wrong with Discord, he's just not my cup of tea. I'm more into the mane6 than any of the rest. I suppose i'm too manestream.

Not everyone is going to like the same characters. Actually, Discord is one of the few whom I harbor no feelings toward.

I like the mane6 for a variety of reasons. RD because she's totally awesome. FS because she's totally kawaii. TS because she's totally the right kind of crazy. AJ because she's totally country. Rarity because she's a diva (lol). And I like PP because she's totally random.

Sidenote: This wasn't really intended as a conversation as to why others don't appreciate discord as much as you. Like I said, not everyone is going to feel the same way as you on all the characters. That's the beauty of opinions.

My overall favorite is Rainbow Dash.
Derpy is probably my favorite background pony.

 

Like I said there is no sense in Discord and I like him because of it. Not everyone can understand him so they can't like him. Take Pinky for example most of us have no dislike of her but some find her annoying because they can't understand why a character like her was made. Like Nights said we can't all share the same opinion and I am sure you can find a hater for any character that exists. But the point this thread is here is to talk about the characters we like and why we like them. Because we are different people the characters and reason will vary but that is normal.
