There is some fact in the Bible, we wouldn't know about Mesopatamia in advance for a couple hundred years.

I'm going to be blunt here in stating that that quote is just ******ed. By saying that, you instill that you are fearful of God, something that I'm sure God would not want you to be doing. Also, in thus doing so, you're putting your fear ahead of your beliefs, essentially making your title as a religious person null. Either way you look at it, the two primary questions are:
    * Are you believing Him because you truly want to?
    * Or are you believing in Him because of fear or family tradition?

The people I hate the most are those who say they're religious, believe they're religious, and try to influence others to be religious, however, they themselves do not go to church, do not pray, and do not obey their God's rule. These are what I like to call "in-betweens", because they say they believe in God, but truly deep down they don't know whether or not they're saying it because they really do, or if they're saying it because they're afraid of the unknown. A good clue to know if you're an "in-between" or not is if you define yourself as Christian. Christian is one religion that's split into dozens of branches. For example, I know that I was born as a Presbyterian Christian. If you don't know your branch and define yourself simply as "Christian", you more than likely do not care deeply about your religion.

Me, I'm an Atheist. I choose to pick the logical root of life's creation, rather than a mythical and whimsical root. I know my **** about religion, though.

or maybe he's trying to say that believing in God is a good thing? IDK you may be right. but The bible says you should fear God but....i wouldn't expect you to care.

Hey, I'm a Christian too. I believe in God, Jesus and I won't go even details to bore those who are not.

To those are Atheist, or believe in a different religion, I respect what they believe. That means I wont go, "I must convert you at once!"

If you believe in Buddha, I'm cool with that. Just don't try to convert me and everything will go smooth.

this may be off topic, though i think it is related. also, i do not want to spark any drama or quarrelling over this.

i think this quote is so sad.... i mean its basically saying that the person is living in fear. i dont think fear is a good motive to have for believing in anything.

i have no religion and if there is a god.... well, i guess thats just too bad for me. but im not going to believe in someone just because he might leave me behind and out of eternity if i dont. id be more inclined to believe in someone who didnt say that you had to believe in him to go to heaven and eternal glory. anyways, i think believing in all of this god and jesus stuff is pretty silly, though this is my own personal opinion so please dont flame me for it.

EDIT: carp. i should have read the rest before posting, but basically you can get a better idea of what im saying by reading Deathspank's post (post #26). he said what i said, only better.
