    Her actress did a wonderful job with the character. Kate Mulgrew gave life to what would have otherwise been a soulless character on paper (she often dealt with a poor script). Seriously, after seven seasons can anyone give me a stable and/or non-contradictory description of Kathryn Janeway's personality? She had so many seemingly 'out-of-character' moments that it became a facet of her personality. The best explanation Mulgrew can give us is that she is bipolar. That's not a canonical fact, it's Mulgrew's headcanon.

    I always thought Janeway best exemplified my theory that nuances in acting really matter.

    Well, given the character you have to play is the captain of an Intrepid class starship, in another quadrant, 70 light years away from any seemingly familiar space, I'd say there's not much room for character growth. Yet it's been done, even if it may seem mundane to have a multifaceted character.

    Kudos Mulgrew, you grew many cherishing memories in my heart.

    and dat ending ;;

    Thus far the overwhelming majority has leaned towards Picard. Can't say I'm surprised.

    ob1 kenobi votes don't count, I warned you punks

    In all seriousness, yeah I prefer Picard, I guess because I watched X-Men first and then got to watching Sir Patrick Stewart in the show.

    I had a pretty tough time choosing. DS9(minus the religious episodes) is currently my favorite Trek. Then there was NexGen and Voyager which I watched as a kid and still like today. They even get extra point for not making me want to pretend parts of them don't exist. So I'll probably always be partial to Janeway, Sisko and Picard. So Janeway was first to go out. Didn't ever think she was incredibly special or interesting herself. The whole series was fun to watch and in my opinion pretty good despite the orthodoxy stating the opposite all the time. But ultimately it was a lot like older Trek, just recycled for a new crew. Then there was Picard. I usually do say he's my favorite. He's Patrick Stewart, he solves his problems with his brain and is the guy to look at for the perfect Star Fleet officer. But I decided to go with Sisko for once because he's not a captain most of the time and that made his run more interesting. He also wasn't as controlled as Picard, he visibly struggles with anger and dealing with people at times. I dunno, I'm just rambling. Long and short: Picard is cool and all, but sometimes you don't feel like voting for the golden boy.

    I couldn't resist choosing ob1 but Piccard fosho. I dislike Kirk and I spent most of DS9 making fun of Bashir so v:

    Dat Ezri, tho. Her and the recurring Romulan characters were the reason to watch DS9.

    Not Sisko. Sisko was the most boring part of DS9 and was only there as the token

    human. (You thought I was going in a different direction, racists)

    Janeway would have glassed an entire planet if it meant she could get her morning coffee a little faster.

    And Kirk was too busy thinking with his dick to actually captain the damned ship.

    Archer was okay but they tried too hard with his character, they should have made him less of an altruist to show an evolution in human behavior from Enterprise forward.

    I think we need to focus more on Captain LaForge.

    What are you talking about? The playboy status was something of a cop-out role he adopted, Kirk used most space-women he encountered as a means to an end when he wasn't busy flirting with Spock. All the entities in space want to jump him, apparently. Anyways, Kirk couldn't possibly requite their affections. We all know who Kirk's really reserved for...

    Poll should have Shatner Kirk and Pine Kirk, since they're still different.

    Why are there other options besides Kirk and Picard? All other opinions are wrong. But I'm partial to Captain Data/B-4 myself(which is canon).
