I love this game. Mostly because it's MUCH more challenging than the second one! I mean in this one you don't get all the super special awesome combos! But you do get the occasional few special moves, which spice the action up a bit.

well, most of the special moves were turned into reaction commands or something.

Kingdom Hearts 1 will always and forever be the best game ive ever played of the Kingdom Hearts series because it is the game that sucked me in and made me continue with this unstoppable and undying will to understand what was going on and how this all started haha.

Well, I'm certain that the first KH holds the most memories to me, and such when I was younger. Especially how tough I thought Ansem was, but now that it's been years since - I have to agree that the first KH won't ever top the next.

y'now, there were some really good things that I liked about the first game. I really liked using Sonic Blade, I would spam that thing like crazy, and there was also the boss battles. They were pretty short usually, but there was a nice feel to them that KH2 doesn't have. Although, some were just rediculous like with Clatan. (is that with a K or a C?) I really enjoyed the Hades Cup the most. Those were one of a kind

The first game was easily the most composed/emotional of them all. It had a simple yet effective story. And the ending was such a tear-jerker. COM was much darker, but still pretty amazing. KH2 was the worst story-wise, because it seemed to go nowhere, Disney took a back-seat.

But anyhow, I think gameplay-wise, the second game was much more fun. The first, from what I've seen, seems kind of slow and difficult. COM's battle system was sort of a pain for me.

Sadface at not posting here yet.

Okay, the first game was truly epic and was just beautiful. Being able to explore the worlds so fully, and the overall story of evil Disney characters combining? Nice. Then in KHII, as I've said before "The series got shot in the face by Organization XIII." I actually loved CoM, (yes, even the card system) and there were admittedly Organizationers in that, but y'know? It just wasn't what I thought Kingdom Hearts was really about.

But actually, after getting shot in the face, the series didn't die. It's just in a coma. Sometimes it has little bursts of life (BbS), and sometimes it looks like it might truly be dead (Re:coded) but no, it might still wake up someday.

So my point is the first game was better in every single way aside from Reaction Commands. The second game was really not the same thing at all in my opinion. Moments during the second one I loved, such as Olympus Colosseum and the last fight. But KHI just had everything good.

Being the one that started it all, the first game is easily the best in the series. The incorporation of Disney worlds/characters and Final Fantasy characters and then the original characters was genius. They all seemed to have more use for each other than they did in Kingdom Hearts II.

And then the ending was the most emotional considering three of the bestest friends the world/universe had ever seen were split up for, at the time, who knew how long was just suspenseful. Were they ever gonna be together again? What escapades would Sora go on next? All these things contributed to Kingdom Hearts being an amazing first game.

All of the games have their merits and their failings, I suppose; admittedly, I've only ever been able to play 1 & 2, due to not caring much about CoM, and not owning a PSP to play BBS, and pretty much losing interest in the games themselves in the long run. But I'd say that if it's between KH1 & KH2, I'd have to say that the KH1 was the best overall.

Like Chev said above, the story was pretty simple, but at the same time, effective. KH2 was just a big exopositional onsalught, in my opinion, and the overabundance of cutscenes in the game cut too much into the actual playing of the game. I give props to KH2 though on the fact that the "camera" could be adjusted manually, which made fighting all the easier. The reacation commands where alright, but even though they were somewhat of a necessity, it seemed, they made things a bit too easy. That, and I think KH2 had too much in the way of minigames (too much to do, and not enough reward for doing it), and while the new gummi ship piloting stuff was pretty epic, that too had too much store put on it.

Visually, I'd have to say that KH1 sort of takes the majority if the cake, though it is about even in that regard. I think the Disney worlds that appeared in KH1 were more impressive and better layed out than the ones in KH2. Atlantica, Agrabah, & Halloween Town, were all loads better in KH1 than in KH2. Hallow Bastion was way more imposing in the first game than the second. I think that world was much better as a castle than as just a village and whatnot; it was just a more powerful feel that way. Just to provide an example.

Not sure about being the best, but this one makes the most sense out of any other.

The fight system was.. hell. I hated the gameplay in KH1 :< frustrated me to the point of yelling at sora at every single boss. Still, it really has something none of the other games have.. this like.. innocent, childish feeling? >:-I
I loved it sora was a kid, he was just adorable... But then they all grew up and fangirls/boys appeared like weeds :C Just not the same.
    Really miss the old sora.

I think it was the camera that annoyed me most and not the actually gameplay. The camera just never seemed to stay still xD

If you think about it, the camera on all of them can be a bit annoying.

The camera in KH2 was good. And while KH1's camera was bad, it still had the best targeting system. It allowed you to change targets with R2/L2 without having to lock off/on again. The handhelds tried to re-implement this, but all of the failed miserably. I can't count the number of times I've wanted to target someone next to me and the targeting system locks me on to something halfway across the map without letting me change back. It also allowed you to see whether or not your enemy was within range of your attacks. This is also something I've missed a lot in later games.

There's a difference between "hard" and "bad". The fighting system in KH1 was hard (especially on proud/expert), but it was a good system. This is a bad system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ERXaBV7nQ&feature=player_detailpage#t=32s

KH1 WAS better than KH2, in my opinion. Mostly it was because of the story. In KH2, they basically just threw Sora and the gang into Disney films and just let things run their course. In KH1, however, they actually made stories for each world, instead of the stories that we know from the movies.

Also, KH1 was more challenging. I still struggle on that second fight with Riku in KH1. However, the only thing that was challenging in KH2 for me was the Xaldin fight, and even that wasn't that hard once you figured out what to do.

However, I like the controls in KH2 better; mostly because of the camera controls. And I also liked the reaction commands a lot.

But, KH2 didn't really offer me any challenge in figuring out where to go. It was basically, "Go here, fight, go back, fight more, go here, final boss."

I honestly don't believe KH1 was the best.

-I literally spent hours, if not days, trying to find my way through each world the first time playing, and it annoyed me.
-I hate Soras' original outfit. They could have been far more creative rather than "Let's make him look like Mickey Mouse."
-The summons are useless, with the exception of Tinker Bell.
-The Rare Truffle and White Truffle sidequests are tedious and annoying.
-I hate the MP bar and how you have to attack to replenish it. This makes me loathe the Phantom battle all the more, especially when I run out of supplies.
-Sora's battle moveset can make defeating certain enemies time-consuming. If KH1 had a battle system like Re:Coded, that would have made it better.

I don't think KhI even comes close to being the best, the game-play and has many problems that were improved upon in II. The story is very nice but i think KHII is much better.
