OK, since there are so many I am going to break them down into two classes

    1) Retro Class- Final Fantasy I-VI
    (basically the 2D games)

    2) Modern Class- Final Fantasy VII-XIII

pick one of each and explain why.

I would love to live in Final Fantasy V, personally, because I just started it tonight but I enjoy the "connected-ness" it has. Its fate is tied to the Four crystals.

as for the Modern class, its definitely a tie between Final Fantasy XIII and X. Idk why X...maybe because it was my first actual Final Fantasy game...but XIII because of how beautiful it looked and how different it was from the other worlds. (honestly, two planets coexisting so close to each other was really cool) and i love the Mythology from both, I would definitely have tried to be a summoner in X if I could have.

    Now its your turn.

    Hmmm...good question

Retro - FFVI because well, you get Terra who's as hot as fire (Pun) and you get a party of Moogles for a brief second and team up with a badass Shadow.

Modern - Toughie on that one, VIII because of Balamb where you can learn practically what weapons you'd use and try and reach the goal of getting a hot dog before Zell does, that and it's the first game to play with cards.

    IX because well, monkeytail!

Retro = FF3, I love most of the music and I believe it was one of the first FF I thought to be actually quite tough.

Modern = Probably X or XII, mostly because those had the most obscure places to begin with, and seems like it would be a really awesome place if were real

In Retro Class FF VI as I loved the industrial feel and would be on the Phantom train constantly, even though I'm not dead.

In Modern Class...I think FFVIII something about that world feels more realistic to ours than others and I dunno. It seems fun.

Kids can be warriors and parents don't look down on it. (:

Modern: Tied between VII and XIII
VII~Midgard is just awesome. I'd love to become Cloud's adopted kid!

XIII~Minus the issue of immigration, it'd be awesome to live in the world of XIII.

Retro: Probably FFIV. It's not technological like the later ones, but it still uses some tech and I love it.

Modern Day: Hmm, that's a really tough choice, I grew up with Modern Day FF's. I have to say between VII, VIII, and X.

VII: The world is basically like today, but they still incorperate swords and everything of the like, including ninjas, who wouldn't love that?
VIII: I grew up with this Final Fantasy, so that's my main reason. And it would be awesome living in a flying school
X: Probably just because of how cool Spira is. But I'd probably rather live in Zanarkand, just before Sin came. Then I would get transported to Spira, that's fine with me

Retro- FFII- Gotta love Firion and the gang. 'Nuff said.

Modern- FFVII- I've always wanted to able to have materia shoved into my ligaments, mako poisoned, and of course, saving the world from a slowly moving ominous meteor crashing down upon us. (kinda of a sarcastic but still true statement) Yeah, Saving Midgar would pretty boss. i love all the characters from the game!

I know there was a thread just like this several months ago, because I remember posting in it. Ah well...

The classifications are silly. A setting is a setting. And there's only one setting I want any part of: Final Fantasy IX. Think about this for a second, guys. What are the odds of you being the hero in any of these worlds? Think of yourself as every-day average townsfolk, just minding their own, living by routine. How boring would it be to be in that position in a lot of the Final Fantasy worlds? Take FFVII, for example: The only place in that whole game that would appeal to the likes of us is the Gold Saucer, and not only are the prices outrageous but there's nowhere terribly livable near there. Nowhere nice, anyway.

...Come to think of it, the Gold Saucer's location must be terrible for business. Guess that's why they charge so much.

And it's not just boring, but stressful to boot! Most of these worlds are infested with monsters that could literally eat you whole before you could say, "Damn bro, you ever tried your luck at a hotdog-eating contest?" And you might notice there's quite a few Final Fantasy universes which seem to be curiously lacking in security, or even brave adventurers outside of your party! Guess they just treat the monsters like natural disasters, turn off all the lights, bolt their doors and windows, hope they pass on to the next house.

So what sets IX apart? It behaves like a living, breathing planet full of real people and really interesting locales. Are you in love with the night-life? Take a stroll in Treno! Just keep tabs on your wallet, there's pick-pockets about. Have a passion for all things theatrical? Pay a visit to Alexandria! Every town is colorful and vibrant, the people diverse and (mostly) friendly. And there's plenty of opportunities for adventure for the average schmuck like you and me! Throughout the game, you see mages and warriors coming and going with the common folk, as if it's no big deal to know your way around a sword and shield in this world. I'll bet you there's people making a living training new blood, and there's no end to the possibilities once you can handle yourself in a fight. You could go treasure hunting! Catch a chocobo! Or just hop on over to Lindblum and try your hand at the Festival of the Hunt. Oh, don't mind the Zaghnol, he's harmless, really.

And you know what else? It has airships. "But Nova," you might protest, "all the Final Fantasy games have airships!" To which I respond, "No, they have airship." IX has airships. Plural. Meaning not reserved only for royalty, not ancient technology buried in the earth or lost in space, not a burgeoning prototype owned by some lucky gambler. Airships, for you and me. You know you wanna ride one. Let's go, baby. They've got one waiting.

I'd consider living in the world of Final Fantasy X, if not for Sin. I mean, really, that's just a sour return on your investment, Blitzball or no. The culture's certainly nice, though.

Well, you get to be a hero by trying, that's how. And it's just a known fact that there are measures taken to keep monsters out of towns. I mean, in FF8 how many places could be overrun but aren't? Sure they appear in Winhill, but that's all I can think of. I don't need a world that's closest to this one, I already get enough of it every day

agreed. You have Cocoon which was mostly peaceful until everything went to hell...or you have cities in XII which have a large amount of people.

Retro- FFIV Always liked knights and paladins, so living there would be neat

Modern- FFVII That was my fav of the Final Fantasies, so I've always wanted to live there.

...What? I think you're missing the point there. I'm saying that in most of the games, it's not that common a thing to just go adventuring. Usually there needs to be a reason supplied. In IX there's practically an economy built around it, while in other games I can't quite grasp how weapon stores stay in business if they're set up anywhere but on military bases.

Like what? What measures are there? I'd love to hear some. Because as far as I can tell, towns survive purely on video game logic. Monsters don't go into towns! That's just silly! I mean seriously, wtf. There's lots of tasty tasty people in there. These universes are more dangerous than Squeenix wants us to think. It's like saying Gyarados never destroyed a town in Pokemon, just because you never see them there. (Funny enough, they are apparently known for doing so, if you read their Pokedex entry.)

Not to mention the L'cie thing. Slave or death? No thank you xD Plus, if you think about it,
The fact that coocon was raised as cattle, it kind of defeats the fact that Coocon is a good place to live.

The only universe I would like to be part of is probably Ivalice. The FFTA one. Then you'd be in a clan taking on missions. I guess the FFXII one isn't bad, but it feels kind of bad to me in a way.

Then again, most of the FF worlds are dull if you take away the "Dangerous adventure for the fate of humanity" factor.

but that's what FF is. Dangerous adventure and all that. Heck, that'd be the main reason for me to go in one. Have an adventure and not a boring life. This is why we need virtual reality. I need to be in a world that you can be in any game you want in virtual reality

Oh man, I forgot about Ivalice. And XII is the same exact world, it even has Montblanc, silly! But yeah, I would totally live there. Would still prefer IX though.

You're looking at it the wrong way. The adventure is not just gonna be there for you. The question is "Which world do you want to live in," not "Which story to you want to be the hero in." Adventure isn't so easy to come by unless you're in the right setting. Gotta think about these things.

Well...actually the official thing is that they're actually different, from what I've seen. But I personally like to believe they're the same. Until a clear word of god says otherwise, I'm sticking to the fact that they're the same.

But yeah, I know. I really meant in terms of atmosphere. FFXII felt a bit gritty and real for a world I'd like to live in. it's tamer than some others, but yeah ;d FFTA Ivalice felt a bit more secure. Probably because it's not as complex as FFXII.

I would probably want to live in Midgar from FFVII, mostly because it seems to be a quiet and peaceful town.

I guess I'd also like to live in the The Temple of the Ancients because of how mysterious it is.
