Birth by Sleep Whether or not Heartless existed during/before BBS **Spoilers**

sWell, I've gotten into a few heated debates all over the forum about whether or not Heartless existed before Xehanort discovered them.
I always thought that they did and Xehanort only created Emblem Heartless.
Well during the ending/credits of BBS (obviously, don't watch if you're wary of spoilers)

At 2:00, we see the scene where Ansem the Wise finds the amnesic we all know to be Xehanort the apprentice.

We see Aqua's armor and Keyblade, as we saw them in KH2:FM+.

at the Dark Meridian where she ends up somehow

And then she's attacked by Darkside Heartless. She's saved, in a way I don't understand, and we know now, thanks to the secret ending, that time doesn't pass at the Dark Meridian so it's possible this took place awhile after the rest of the events, but it seems that it happened right after. IN other words, before Xehanort started his experiments.

 

The heartless probably did exist during the time BBS took place but they weren't as abundant as they were in KH1 and they were probably still in the realm of darkness. That's the reason why the Unversed take their place during BBS. Also does anybody know what the Unversed are? Has it been explained in the game how they are created?

 

I was thinking they were like the soul of somebody but that doesn't make sense now does it?

I do think they existed as well. I think they existed where people were most evil and then were able to multiply upon that and consume areas such as that. It would put the fact that no one is neither completely good nor evil. So that means that somebody that did an evil action and darkness came so the heartless did too. But let's just stay with the fact that people weren't too greedy over light and created dark then.​

 

All I know about the unversed is that they are created from negative emotions, does anyone know why unversed don't exist during KH1 or KH2?

 

The unversed are negative emotions which erupted and disrupted the balance of the worlds due to the creation of Vanitas. Basically Vanitas Created= Unverse Appear. They disappear when Vanitas dies.

I think that when Aqua was going through Dark Meridan, that was still inbetween Post-BBS and Pre-KH1? I think she was there at the exact moment when Terranort and the apprentices created the Heartless.

EDIT: Turns out there were heartless in BBS. Xehanort summoned Neo-Shadows on Ventus right before Vanitas was created.

 

That's what I always thought. Xehanort opened up the door to Radiant Gardens' heart, giving Heartless a way to crossover. Then he started mass producing Emblem Heartless which obviously increased the number of Heartless.
Then the Emblem Heartless joined the Purebloods in taking Hearts, making even more.

And I'm not talking about the Secret Ending, I'm talking about the actual ending.
The secret ending does take place a year later, Ansem the Wise said "I've been here a year" or something like that
