I do understand what you were saying. You put your money behind something that you enjoy. That's why I decided to buy a few episodes of BrBa, because I knew I would get a return on my investment. It's why I'm not putting any money down yet on Game of Thrones, because I don't know if I'm going to enjoy it and feel like I got my money's worth. I'll spend money on things that I feel I'll be invested in or have prior knowledge of. Take going to the movies for example. I paid to go see Frozen and enjoyed the hell out of it; I used a gift certificate to see Devi's Double, and disliked it, but I didn't feel robbed because it wasn't my money. Lone Survivor, my mom paid for, and I liked it. And I was relieved when my dad paid for Desolation of Smaug and very much dislike it.

I can understand various reasons why people do torrent stuff (the one argument I dislike is the "I'm entitled to download whatever I want because it's there"). I know that anime is pretty freaking expensive at times, but companies do try to make things reasonable. Funimation may have expensive full series, but they're at least not charging that price per disc, unlike Sentai. I just feel more comfortable with what I do (which I have been bashed for constantly in the past).

No but see there's a difference. If you download it you're stealing from the producers and all the people who make a living from doing that stuff. But see if you stream it then you're not stealing because it's like borrowing one of your buddy's DVD's. Totally different.

You've no idea how close I was to not saying something. I figured I would save the trouble of a needless battle. No sense fighting the same side. Seriously though, what's the difference? Even if you did consider streaming to be like borrowing a DVD, downloading would be no different.

The way I see it, if you have the means then use it. If I download something to watch it then it's very unlikely that I'll actually keep it (because the government is monitoring my computer -leave no trace!!!-). And really, are you hurting the profit when you were never going to buy it in the first place? Actually, there are a lot -not all- of people who go out and buy whatever content they download to support the makers. It's kind of like test driving a car before you invest. How do you think I ended up buying both Portals?

Anyway, stream or download really just comes down to a preference. If you prefer to simply watch rather than keep a digital copy then just stream. If you want a digital copy for offline viewing then download.
