When do you throw out a plate?

    They don't wear out or anything and when they get dirty you just wash them.

    You don't tend to throw them out, but you replace them either when enough of the set has been smashed/damaged through occasional accidents or simply when you want a new set or theme maybe to match your other stuff.

    Apparently, you can get some plates manufactured from the 1950's - 1980's and they can have traces of Radon on them.

    He's saying that you should exercise that curiosity and type Radon into the search bar and read up on it rather than asking for someone to google it for you. For the record Radon is an element and it can be harmful to humans.
