PhotoShop, GIMP, or others? I would have to say Photoshop.

Each program has its own uniqueness and benefits, it all really falls under the person who is doing the work.

    i find gimp more useful.

I use Photoshop for most of my tags, but I made the text with GIMP sometimes.

Photoshop will kill every effect in GIMP and PSP's book.

That doesn't mean GIMP can't reach that potential.

    Mine does =\

No, it isn´t your GIMP, it´s the artist ability, so basically it´s you, not your GIMP.

It depends on what you are going for, really.
In GIMP there are functions that are very simple to get to, while in ps, it takes awhile to replicate that.

Not entirely. GIMP has alot to do with it itself. It's similar functions to PS help the user to gain more of an aspect to the goal. It might be a bit harder to reach it due to the fact that PS has filters already listed. GIMP however you need to add maybe two effects and one smudge or something. That's just an example.

I regret my earlier post because I was wrong, but your not exactly right =\
