Basically the difference is when I resized mine, it retains the same proportions, both x and y axis, and if you look at the one you have, it seems like it was stretched vertically.

Another thing is that the image naturally is very greenish, and a lot of the colors are very tainted because of it. That, besides the grainy look to the image to begin with, is the other reason why a lot of others say it's aesthetically unpleasing. What I did is lower the green tone, made the image darker, and saturated it more, along with throwing in a few layers to give more vibrant colors. Saved as a PNG and walla.

So quality can go down even without there being noticeable less sharpness (like the examples I provided in my Technology thread)? God, all this is confusing to me. :x

Let's take the one I provided as an example: I saved it as .PNG; when I uploaded it on Imgur, it was still a .PNG. When I re-sized it to 200 x 200 it retained its pixels so it didn't look less sharp when downsizing because it was a .PNG. However, when I saved the finished product to my computer it was a .JPG because, for some reason, when I save images as .PNG and try to upload them, I get an error that the forum doesn't support that even though I can upload your .PNGs just fine.

I can provide some screenshots or a video to show what I mean if you want.

By the way, what green are you talking about?

Nah I get what you mean, but the program that Cat provided will literally bypass all that tedious file creating and you can edit everything at one go and then export it from the program as a saved PNG file onto your computer. Give it a go and if you have questions, there's always youtube tutorials, they really help visually.

and in regards to the green:

There's hints of green in most of the other colors, making the vibrancy of the original image softer, tainted, and diluted. Even the yellow hair is a hint of green, that's why I edited everything and changed the colors to be more vibrant and "pure".

Because I want to, anyway. :3

This is when I try to upload the unedited one that I saved as a PNG from Google images:

    XenForo
    File 1.png

    vBulletin
    File 2.png

Also, this if off topic, but Paint saves images as PNG by default. :3

This is clearly the only correct answer.

It's having troubles because you're not saving the images properly. I don't know how it works on the technical level, but you can't convert file types by just changing the extension. What you're doing is equivalent to downloading a video as movie.wmv and renaming it to movie.mp4. Image files are more forgiving in this, but you're still going to run into problems when uploading them to websites that heavily limit/regulate what you're uploading.

Using a program like Gimp to open the file in whatever format you downloaded it in, then exporting it into whatever format you need (JPG, PNG, uncompressed TIFF, whatever you need), would probably eliminate the problems you've having (as well as result in cleaner results).

Guess I'll have to try again later.

I tried downloading GIMP, but was presented with some error about the .exe installer not being able to be read.

After about 45 seconds of googling with no promise that this may help.

Look in your program files and see if there's a gimp folder already. //Baleet. Then try reinstalling.
