Just a note: The third one is what I originally had.

I saved it from the web as a .PNG file and re-sized it on Imgur; then, when I saved it, I saved it as a .JPG file. Whenever I try to upload .PNG images on either a XenForo or vBulletin forum, the upload fails because it doesn't support the format, which is weird, because I can upload your .PNGs with no problem.

Anyway, thanks to Hero in the Quality of Avatars thread, I've been saving a file like this: Example.png instead of Example. Then I upload it and re-size it to, say, 200 x 200. I then upload it (the .PNG) again if another forum has different restrictions, such as 100 x 100, and re-size it to those restrictions. Rinse and repeat.

Ever since I started that a few days ago, I've not noticed a drop in quality like before with the .JPGs.

Let me stop you right there and recommend that you download GIMP for making, cropping images for avatars. The program is free and pretty easy to use with some tutorials.

Also, use the image Below just uploaded. It's a png image, is in much better quality than the three in your OP and has a transparent background, which I happen to enjoy.

And what's different about resizing an image on there than on something like Imgur?

You can sharpen the resized image so that it looks better, you can dodge or burn the pic to change the contrast and it just looks better when you do it on a downloaded program like GIMP than on some crap software online.

    Huh. Interesting.

However, and maybe I'm blind, but I don't see any fuzziness on this avatar.

It's not that it's fuzzy, it's just that the low quality is unappealing...

While I am one of those nitpickers, maybe I don't pay that much attention to detail. Either that or it doesn't bother me.

This is the original I saved from the web:

If you want to make a good quality one so I can compare, I may be able to see the difference. (Sorry if my wording sounds rude there -- it's not intentional if it does.)

I'm not really seeing anything that really stands out except for the snazziness you added.

@Amaury the snazziness makes it better.
