What I think will happen is that the world will be in utter chaos!
No fuel = chaos to this world.

I think our government should spend more money on finding better safer fuel.

    What do you think?

As long as they're people who own oil factors now, they'll never try to use a alternate fuel source. Well not a least until they finally run out of it.

    We're screwed.

Unless people use less petrol/gas & we find a new source of fuel for cars we're gonna have to start using horse n' cart again. :p

Yeah...we're totally screwed. Ecveryone will go Berserk...that is unless theres a new source of fuel that we've swapped to....fat chance in that, though....

We'll turn to coal... but that will run out too... so then we must turn to technology and science to manufacture a new substance or create new technology that doesn't use gas or coal.

As long as you can still make money in the oil business then all the alternatives will never be put into use.

Oil will eventually run out. In the end, we'll have to turn to technology and science to solve the global problem.

When oil reserves are completely tapped, the best and most efficient fuel source to be used would be ethanol. Not only will we be able to grow the fuel source, but the plants themselves are renewable. There's also the fact that producing and containing fuel-grade ethanol would be much cheaper, cleaner, and all around easier than something much more radical like hydrogen. This of course will only be until the fossil fuels of the planet are completely used up, because as long as there are money-hungry gas company bastards running the show there's no hope for ethanol being placed on the market.

I think the same thing that happened in Final Fantasy 7 will happen , I'm sure of it.

Ethanol is a good choice, but it has it's own drawbacks!
To make it, it consumes tons of water and it leaves tons of waste, the water wasting is not good for the Great Plains area of the United States. Do you know where we get our water from?

It's called the Ogallala Aquifer, it is used here on the Great Plains for fresh water.

If that aquifer dries out faster then it refills then the whole Great Plains region would spin out of control! Without water, there are no crops, and no crops means no ethanol. (and no food for us....)

You do have a point, but it also depends on the types of vegetation being fermented. The most subtable candidate so far is corn because it can be grown in all types of soil around the world, and not just the Plains or Praries. If ethanol fuel is needed to end a worldwide oil shortage, it'll be more than just the Great Plains supplying and it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper as it isn't just coming from specific places. As for any waste that remains from the process, since it's all organic the remaining nutrients can be returned to the environment via compost. Along with efficiency there is also the huge economic boost that the farming industry receives.

We'll all be using solar pannels for our PS2 and be can only play during the day. :S

Wait has any one heard of those hydro plants that use the impact from waves at the seaside to generate energy. It leaves no waste and consumes nothing. Only drawback i think is i dont know how far from the ocean that can suppliy evergy.

Well that's just hydro-electricity and it currently runs our PS2s whenever we turn them on. I think the topic is meant to highlight on the things that fossil fuel provide us, like gas for cars, and heating, etc.

yep, not much chance of any sort of alternative becoming available until the oil is completely gone, thats capitalism for you. i wouldnt be surprised if the oil companies were suppressing the alternatives so as to not cut into their market.....j

Well, if we can't do anything about it, we'll end up resulting like the people did in that one movie...Lighting/Thunder something. Thunder Cats or something.

But in reality, we'll find new ways of fuel. Like electric cars, solar powered engines, etc...

I do agree that there will probably be a war over oil in the future. But I don't think the end of the world will be upon us when gas runs out. I think that if there is a war on oil it will be ended by the invention of a new energy source. But if that new energy source is found sooner it could mean less lives lost. Maybe in the future everything will run on nuclear power. You'll be pumping radioactive sludge into your tank.:D :D :D But of course gas isn't just for powering cars. It also powers many people's houses. And I know some people who get solar panels put on their roof and use that to get some energy but they also use gas. Here in MN there have been some bigger buildings in Minneapolis and St. Paul that were turning their roof green. I guess that means they were planting up there and that somehow makes it cooler there in the Summer. They said that it lowered the cost of their gas bill. They have a couple of stories about it on the news here. I don't know if that technique is ok to use on houses though.

    There already have been *cough*Iraq*cough*.

And Bunterx, I wouldn't be surprised if if that's what the gas companies were doing either. In fact I'd probably be more surprised if they weren't.
