In KH: CoM, Sora forgets everything! What was the point? In my opinion, the game was pointless. Who agrees? Tell me why and why not.

i don't think it was poitless. they were telling what happened to sora. abunch of players would wonder why sora was in the pod in tt. and it introduced abunch of new characters, such as: orgaization XIII, DiZ, namine, and roxas (bhk).

Yeah... but he forgets the whole thing anyway... So he doesn't remeber ANYTHING that happened in Castle Oblivion.

The game was supposed to be a bridge between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. It was made so you had a tiny clue about what KH2, so you wouldn't get confused. (I think.)

Try to remember that while Sora forgot everything that happened, we, the viewers, did not ;)

It is because of this that the game was created. Not so the characters could have an idea about what was going on, but so WE could.

Despite debuting on the GBA, it was a very well-done piece of work like libregkd was hinting at. Maybe people may find it pointless because there's not enough theatrical drive to push the story's dramatics in a full-fledged manner when you have a 1.62x2.41 inch screen and standard stereo sound and classic sprites to work with. For many, aesthetics are a large part of what brings a game to the degree of 'epic'. While I can agree, it's also what makes a lot of people overlook just how excellent a game when you break down its foundations.

CoM was a very good intermediary between KH1 and KH2.

Also, KH2 would've most likely taken place exactly where it did in the actual game, whether or not CoM came into existence.

So about making a game that takes place between KH1 and KH2, the question is: Why the hell not?

Don't forget the whole Organization XIII plotline - Sora and Riku wipe out half of them.

W/O Chain of Memories...there's no intro to the Org and a reason of why they die.

It also introduces DIZ and Namine. It shows that Riku is ok and well (except for the darkness thing in his heart). It also explained why Sora was in that egg capsule in KH2. =D I think it was a great bridge.

CoM gives a good introduction to the Organisation, and shows you what became of Riku.

But it did piss me off that Sora forgot everything, and his obliviousness got annoying in KH2, imo.

it wuz a brifge between kh 1 and 2 and it introduces alot of characters that play a big role in kh2 and it gets rid of like half the organization so you dont have to fight em all in kh2.....that would be a long @$$ game...

Com is important to realize about Namine, and the orginization. However it is not neccessary to understand everything in Kh2.

The game wasn't pointless, because it was leading up details to HOW sora got put to sleep in the pods and how he was awakened.

I think it was because it was sorta like the alchemist rules in FMA. Ya know, equivilent exchange--in order to receive something back, you have to give something up of equal value.

I totally agree. I can't say how many times I got annoyed with Sora being so dang oblivious during KH II.

But think... if he wasn't so oblivious, KH2 would be very short. Meaning Sora would know just about everything about the Organization and he would go after them from the start without first finding out the info he needed. And don't forget, it also added to the players' understanding of the Organization if they didn't played CoM [like me].
