    Just wondering on everyone's thoughts on what they thought Axel was up to for those 48 days he went awol/ disappeared after Castle Oblivion and then his sudden reappearance.He makes a point of stating to Roxas when he appears again that he has already been and seen The Superior and already been stuck with a mission...also Xion asked him sometime later what he'd been up to and Roxas tries to pry it out of him too but he gives them no leads...they also ask him what it is he does when he returns to Castle Oblivion all the time and again he gives them no leads..

    We do however get shown that one scene of him returning and raiding Vexen's research in castle oblivion.

    I'm thinking Axel was under orders from Xemnas during these 48 days...the mission? Be damned if I knew but I wish i did!!

    It probably had to do with Vexen's research on making replicas in order to make/improve Xion.

    that sounds like a good explenation as any. Vexen was able to create a near perfect replica and Xemnas wants to know how. but maybe there's more to it than that.
    in the words of Lexaeus: Who knows what that one is thinking?

    I was thinking of something along these lines too, but do you really think Xemnas and Saix would place that much trust in Axel?

    They trust him enough to assign him as the Org's assassin.

    This is true but that is an easy enough mission to assign to anyone, to actually go through all the research that Vexen left and report it back to Xemnas without fault you'd have to think Axel's loyalty would have to be unquestionable. Why didn't Xemnas to go himself, or Saix? This is what confuses me

    actually before Roxas left I think Axel was very loyal and trusted.
    Axel could've joined Marluxia's coup but he didn't. he fought Marluxia for the Organization(ok and also maybe for Roxas' benefit as well but...)
    all right bad example but still Axel was the only survivor from Castle Oblivion, so that right there is good reson enough to have him return and go through Vexen's research

    The poing of being the leader of any organization is to have people do your dirty work for you. Saix is second in command so it's still below him to do that kind of work. You have to think of it as an actual Organization where everyone has a designated job. Roxas=gather hearts
    Axel=assassinate traitors
    Marluxia's group=research on memories
    Zexion's group=lure out the traitor (or something similar)
    Xaldin=Take Beast's hearts
    Xemnas=Leader
    Saix=second ni command
    So everyone else had their jobs assigned by either Xemnas or Saix. As Vaxing said, Axel was the only survivor from Castle Oblivioln and he was most familiar with it out of the surviving members. Since they were currently no traitors, he wouldn't have anything to do so he got a new job assigned to him.

  9. But for 48 days? I mean, I'm sure it isn't that hard to search. And on top of that, both Xemnas and Saïx were aware of what Xion was, why and how, in the first place. So it wasn't like he had to find the ends of the earth. When he was peeking into Vexen's study, he seemed to be doing that for himself and to discover what was hidden from him that Saïx wouldn't spill.

    Personally, I think Axel needed some alone time after the arseholeness of his actions in Castle Oblivion before he returned. Sort of like a view of what he wants to do, or where all this was going, or what he actually did. Pensive thinking of some regret. Saïx commented that he changed after Castle Oblivion, and even Roxas noted it in his diary.

    We know that whatever it was changed him to an extent that people he was close to wondered about it.

    Axel was acting as a double agent though wanting to fool Marluxia and Larxene to trust him and get in their inner circle to discover their plot to take down the rest of the organization. He doesn't have a heart and does as he was assigned to do by either Saix or Xemnas by going to Castle Oblivion. His task was completed and once he comes back Saix questions him and gives him doubt which he should not have for someone not supposed to having feelings. It was a just a job plain and simple and he was known for being the executioner of the organization. *I would really like to know how this came about.*

    -nods- Xemnas was the one that created Xion after all, why go to all the trouble of setting Axel after Vexen's research when he himself is capable of producing similar results? Then again Vexen had had the aid of Namine to control the actions of his replica so in a sense could the Riku Replica really have been called perfect?

    Perhaps Axel came across something/someone during these 48 days, a twist in the story that has yet to be shown?

    -sighs- I'm starting to sense another game aside from BBS coming into the works to drag out the already complicated mess of Organization XIII further, I wish in this game they'd just done the same thing as Re:COM/COm where you played through both Sroa and Riku's stories, except in this one you'd played through the other organization members stories or at least those relevant to the plot. There seems to be more questions than answers with each new installment.

  12. Probably. Maybe it's the difference in world times? I just can't see why he would last so long when Sora was placed in the pod by Day 27, signaling the end, and Roxas knocked out. And he had yet not come back. As I said, searching for clues or being ordered to doesn't really make sense. And coming back after 20 days or more of CoM ending, means there must be a lapse if it doesn't have to do with time difference. I'll stick to the "he was finding himself" reason until something comes along xD. Saïx and Roxas noted a change in him (which was weird, since I thought he already changed with the whole making friends and eating ice cream), so something went on with him internally.

    Maybe we'll find out in the Secret Reports that comes after you finish playing the game, and are around Roxas's Diary. Supposedly, it has things from "obviously" Axel, someone noting Axel's actions in Castle Oblivion (I love this, makes you wonder since I think it doesn't specify who), and then Xion.

    It is a side guessing trade. Roxas's story and not Axel so the creator like so many game designers do is mess with us. They forshadow things all the time and keep the speculation on going.

    The time it showed Axel going through Vexen's study had something to do with Namine that he was searching for. Perhaps he was trying to find more on Xion or something.

  14. That's basically what it actually was in that scene.

    Vexen would have thrown a hissy fit if he knew.

    Too bad he was gone.

    There are still to many questions to be answered such as what were the rest of the members doing for instance? What day was it around that Axel left for Castle Oblivion?

  16. Everyone, and Axel, left on Day 22.

    Roxas knocked out and we saw a image of Sora in his pod by Day 26. Signaling the end of CoM.
    - Roxas was unconscious because of this until Day 50.

    Day 71: Axel decided to pop in out of nowhere in Twilight Town.

    And that's basically it. Meh. Here's the diary translated: http://community.livejournal.com/0kingdom_hearts/1417064.html

    I actually would of loved to see Vexen having an hissy fit over it. lol

    Then COM lasted 4 days. Perhaps Axel was overcoming some kind of memory in his past that he was reliving. Finding himself seems more acceptible, but a memory strain could also follow.

    I think he was at Castle Oblivion. Because we saw Sora go to sleep when Roxas was knocked out.
