What Really Grind's Your Gears?

When people chew with their mouth open... GRRRRR! Just so annoying and such a pet peeve. I don't want to see what in your mouth and I don't want to hear your lips smacking and you breathing and eating at the same time. People who have stuffy noises and have to eat like that, I'll be more sympathetic. But gah! So annoying to me...

Also when someone turns on an old TV, and it has that high pitch ring to it that just bugs me to death. Old people can't hear it, but you sure can. And by the time you watch a movie all the way through with the high pitch noise in the background, you have a headache. I think I've been spoiled with the HD TVs lately. :'D

 

When people generalise about things and judge based on stereotypes. Yes I may be Christian, that doesn't mean I think I'm better than anyone or that I can say 'your going ta hell!!!' Yes I do support gay rights. No I don't think you have to be religious to be a good person. Yes I do believe in the Big Bang and evolution. It seems people always seem to assume on the internet that you can't be religious and intelligent, or you must be extremely judgemental to be religious. I'm just a normal person who happens to believe in God. That belief is my choice, and it makes me happy. If you ask me about it I will tell you, but I won't try and convert you and tell you all your beliefs and ideals are wrong because of what I believe. Gah.

 

people on facebook who update their status every half hour, *****ing about something going on in their life. like this one girl (not naming names, obviously), there will be updates about how her unborn child's father cares more about 4.20 than his own baby, or how just because she's pregnant she should still be able to go shows as long as she's far away from the mosh pit!

she's not the only one that posts statuses all the time that i could really care less about, just the one that i've noticed a lot recently. i just think that if she wants to vent about her life, or anyone who does this, she should move to a blog instead of voicing it over facebook.

It's kinda random for me. Mostly it's just noise though. If I'm in a place and there's noise noise noise everywhere and it's just obnoxious beyond belief, that really gets to me. It's especially so in a Movie Theater or when we're watching movies at home. All I want is to watch a movie in silence and enjoy it, but instead I get a bunch of noise going on around me. Is it too much to ask for a little bit of peace and quiet?

 

It is okay if it is a reaction to a much louder noise. I should have just told them to shut up.

There is a difference between finding a movie funny and laughing for several minutes, just as there is a difference between finding a movie terrible and ranting about it to your friend for everyone else to hear.

Not really. I am an extremely cautious driver, too, though, so I don't get angry at others as easily as I worry about controlling myself.

I am pretty sure it is those who are confident but annoyed that cause accidents, not the cautious ones.

 

Oh boy, agreed, some drivers are just batshit insane.

Most Christians are actually like you, at least in my country. In real life I' ve only met a single obnoxious christian and zero creationist.

I knew the US were heavier on religion, but until I started using american forums I had no idea how much. I' ve been threatened with hell for the first time in my life on this very forum. I don' t know what the worst part was, the fact that the guy didn' t realize how offending he sounded, or the fact that I had to use a religious argument to shut him up. Trying to appeal to reason was like trying to play chess with a pigeon, he just sent the pieces flying and peed all over the board.

I wouldn' t let such experiences drive me towards a generalized intolerance for religious people, but repeated enough they would get on my nerves big time.

 

Most of my pet peeves are from work lol. One that I'm sitting through right now is when my professor writes something on the board and then stands in front of what he just wrote.
Also, my biggest pet peeve when driving is people who don't use turn signals or flip them on for like two seconds and turn them off before they've fully switched lanes. Besides that, I try not to get mad at people on the road because I've been in situations where I've had to be the ******* on the road (missing my exit, car trouble, etc.) so I don't get mad since I don't know their situation.

 

Oh my goodness. I just cant stand that. Its one thing to say "I'm in love with my boyfriend" every once in a while but some of these girls just don't shut up. Its as if they're forcing everyone into a love triangle. Keep it to yourselves, and please, leave me out of it.
