    Actually, I think seeing his powers used in combos would be an interesting thing to see.

    kinda like something like death that your enemy dies in a certain amount of time
    like on other final fantasy games and like the phantom from kh1

    An offensive Aero, Dark Magic, Haste, Earth Magic, more powerful non-elemental spells like flare, meteor, etc.

    A manipulative skill where you would control and enemy almost like the crystal bearers.

    Something like Gravity/Demi or Ultima/Flare. Although I think haste/Slow would be very useful too, especially on really fast enemies like the lightning things and hooks bats.
