America, we have to abandon the lessons we have been trying to instill upon the general public for the last fifty years; we have to, in essence, revert to the mindset that sees skin color as a reason to make one person different from another person. Because even though Barack Obama hasn't done anything yet, just the fact that he's black means that he has done something right. Apparently.

The reason they see Obama being elected as a sign of good change is because a couple of decades ago, people like him had to fight for seemingly basic rights. Yes, he hasn't done anything yet, and no, his skin color doesn't really mean anything in terms of what kind of president he will be, but if anything, him being elected is a sign that America has progressed a lot, even if he turns out to be a horrible president.

 

This year'll suck cuz I'm going to officially be a teenager (13) in feb and I'm at a new school that I already hate. Plus, even though I've not been eating all i do is gain weight *cries*​

Then you learn from it to try and pick a better candidate next time. Note I'm speaking of what America in general should do and not you specifically.

It's kind of early to be making assumptions anyway, we don't really know what kind of president he'll be at all.

 

The fact that he's black shouldn't even be acknowledged. The only reason any president should be "historic" is if they have political skill and success, not a certain skin color.
